will the airplane stripper strip a polished lip or chrome/polished screws on the rim? I want to paint my rims as I have pictured on the left. Should I strip the whole rim or just sand the parts I'm painting?

Yes it will strip it.. it will leave it on bare metal. so you cant really just do one part of the rim and not another

wow i have to say, by far that is the cheapest mod that looks great! i mean even with the stillen kit and drop they look like real aftermarket rims. i wish i had a black max there so much i could do to it that i cant do to this stupid gold color.

i used the duplicolor wheel paint in Bronze. it looks like a different color each time i take a pic. it must be the sun or something. I found a nice color at Homedepot. Its closer to the Volk/Gram Lite brownish gold, which is what i was going for. I am going to repaint them either way, but im sticking to a bronze.

That indeed does look really nice. How durable is the paint on these wheels? Are you finding any major peeling/chipping?

I never understood the honeycomb wheel. Every other wheel on every generation maxima has looked better than that thing.

i think the honeycomb paintjob you did came out great! i have them for winter wheels, which i should probably put on considering it is snowing out now, but they're in rough shape. i've wanted to paint them but didn't know if it was worth it or if they'd come out ok. you've convinced me though that they'll look cleaner atleast.

i've always thought 3rd gen wheels were very ugly, but the honeycomb might take the cake. although the 5th gen (gle's?) had a nasty set when they first came out. i don't know if i'd rather steelie's and hub caps or honeycombs...

I have a black Max, and the sawblades I got are beat up... I really have nothing to lose.. I think I should definitly paint em up.

What exactly do I need, how much, and where to buy?

i got my stuff from auto zone and shucks. get the duplicolor wheel paint. you choice of color. then get the clear coat for shine and protection. but before all that you gotta use an aircraft stripper to take off all the paint. you'll need 400 grit sand paper too. cost me aobut 20 bucks. go for it.

i hate my honey combs too. they're ugly. but hey its all good i'll get the new wheels and tires after winter. and besides i have to drop it first. ^_____^

i clean mine with a pressure washer; no chips. cracks, or peeling. I never stripped them. there is absolutly no point.

I've had my wheels painted for a year now and they aren't "peeling" or anything. Theyre holding up great.

How much would it be to paint your wheels, lets say from the stock alloy to a gunmetal or flat black? And I wouldn't do it myself because I don't trust myself enough nor have the resources and know-how to do so.

what's the best way to take off chipped chrome plating off of a rim? (Other than sanding it down) Would the aircraft stripper work on this??

I am not familiar with 'Shucks'? But I do have an AutoZone. So I need:

1. Aircraft Stripper
2. 400 Grit Sand Paper
3. Duplicolor wheel paint
4. and clear coats?

I've never done any kinda paint job, is there anything else I'm missing? Thanks.
