these tires are pretty cheap ($105 per tire) and that's a lot cheaper than most tires for 225/50/17. i want a good dry grip because i like to launch my car without my car hopping. i dunno how these tires are, anyone care to share?

I have had these tires for the last year and 20,000 miles. They are W rated and to me ride rougher than the stock tires. They are better in the rain, about the same in dry. However, you must rotate these tires frequently. I did not rotate mine for the first 10k miles, and they developed a "sawtooth" or "heel and toe" wear pattern. This is where every other block around the edge of the tire is higher than the rest and is very loud. I rotated my original RE92's on the same schedule and got 42,000 miles out of them with no problems.

I will replace them soon and I will get different tires next time.

Agreed they do ride pretty rough. They're heavy too at 27lbs. Wet & dry grip is decent but I don't push em. Kumho makes some outstanding tires - MX, V710, V700, etc. are all top performers.

 

you think during HARD acceleration they'll hold up and cherp pretty nice? or will they HOP and not want to accelerate? my tires now hop under hard acceleration and i'll looking for tires that will grip the road during DRY conditions. what street tires are good for dragging?

 

My KH11s were pretty good. They were indeed a little firmer due to the stiffer sidewalls but the dry grip and wet grip was phenomenal. But don't EVEN think about using these in the winter. I think after all was said and done I got about 27k miles out of them. I definitely could have gotten more if I had not roasted the fronts to hell on some gravel.

 

Good feedback. I thought it was my susp or alignment that made it so tough. These things can't grip snow or ice from a standstill at all.

 

If you're looking at the KH11, also look into the Ecsta ASX.

I was trying to choose between the two and I picked the ASX because it has a treadwear rating of 420 (compared to 280 for the KH11) and still maintains the W speed rating.

I've had them on for 600 miles and could not be happier with them.

 

Don't take personal offense, just b/c you have Kumho tires. He asked for opinions. I gave it. Although I would never slap any of their stuff on my car, I know plenty of people that have, as well as ridden/driven on them myself.
