Tire Recommendations

Hey everyone. I'm looking for recommendations for summer tires. The size I need is 245/35/20. My priorities are:

1. Traction
2. Noise
3. Price
4. Treadwear

TIA

C'mon people. I know someone has some advice. I've read plenty of posts talking about the Falkan 512's and the Toyo Proxies but I didn't see any comparisons based on the things I listed. If I missed something, a link to a thread would be good too.

It's possible that the abscence of a response may be due to not many members are running 20" wheels. I have Nitto 555's in 245/35/19, but am unaware if there is a 20" version.

Good luck.

I had Falken ST-115s and they were quiet and better traction compared to my Nittos but side wall isn't as stiff as Nittos and tread life is ok.

I guess that's true. I have seen plenty of posts frowning on 20s here. I'm more concerned with brand and model experiences at any rate. Honest opinions are all I want. Trust me, if someone says that Brand ABC model XYZ is a great tire, I look for it and don't find it in the size I need, I wouldn't blast that person for pointing me in the wrong direction. They tried to help and that is all I am looking for.

Let me make sure I understand something. With running a 35 series tire, a little too much flex in the sidewalls can put me at a greater risk of bending a rim. But if I go too stiff, my ride is going to suffer a little. Do I have it right?

I like the Pirelli PZero Nero, but Tirerack is showing a size of 245/30/20. There seem to be a few good selections listed like the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S, but since you mentioned these will be summer use mainly, might check out Tirerack to get some more ideas.

Looking at the selection at tirerack.com in terms of price I would probably go with:

1) Continental ContiSportContact 2
2) Pirelli PZero Nero M&S
3) Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Position
4) BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2

Continental's are great tires, PZero's are going to be good for the price. The Bridgestone S-03 is probably the best tire for performance right now, but because of the price it's a little further down the list. Good luck, let us know what you go with and your experience.

Those Pirellis are looking more and more attractive. I'm just wondering why the M&S version is cheaper than the summer version. The M&S version would have the bonus of giving me a little more time to run the wheels during the year.

Yea but difference of sidewall stiffness is minimal. I'm yet to bend a rim w/ either brand
