I know the bolt pattern is right, does anyone know if the offset is okay and if these wideboys will work on the 4th gen maxima ?

Offset is a little high I believe (+50?). I know 3rd gen guys need spacers, I think you will too, just smaller ones.

what size spacer most likely? and would these wheels clear the Z calipers with just stock Z rotors as well (which fit under the 16x7.5 front Z wheels from the factory...so I would think they would fit 16x8 wheels on the mazda!?!?

I thought someone said they did not fit under the z rims or the rx7 rims when on a maxima.

I've seen pics of Z rims on the maxima with the z calipers and z rotors behind them though....can't remember who...just wondering if the mazda wheels will clear being 8" in width and +50 offset...(what kind of space will I need for these also?)

They fit with a 5mm spacer on the back...im not sure if you can fit tires wider than 225 tho bc clearance is a bit close.

you can't fit wider than 225's on the rear? or on the front as well? do you need spacers for the front as well? what if I put 10mm spacers on...wouldn't that allow me to put 235 or 245's on then?

Well I bought the wheels with 225s on them front and rear and am running them with no spacers on the front and 5mm spacers on the back, no issues at all. Clearance looks too close to fit any wider on right now, but with 10 mm I think 235s should fit.

what is the largest spacer you guys would recommend running before getting new studs?

and ludacris....does the tire width look to close in the rear only or both in front and rear?

also do you think the Z32 calipers with stock Z32 rotors would fit these wheels...I know the rotors would as they are almost the same diameter as our stock ones, but the calipers are huge and need a certain spoke and offset to clear them...

so the mazda wheel is +50 offset

if I had to choose another wheel, what offset would you guys go with out of the bunch:
+35
+40
+43
+45
or +48?

mind you I need the best chance of fitting those huge Z32 calipers...

I have Z32 wheels with Z brakes.... no problems.... as for offset .. I have a set of 17x9s +34 and they just start to peek out from under the front fenders... but they look perfect in the rear... my other wheels are 17x8.5 +40 and 17x9.5 +38 (street wheels for my Z32) I put them on the Max just to see how they fit... I liked the 8.5 +40 on the front with a 255/40/17 looked perfect... for looks I think 9 with +35 rear and 8.5 +40 front.... kinda PITA not to be able to rotate .... so I would consider the same wheel front and rear and add a 5mm spacer for the rear.... if you don't care about the look.... you don't need the spacer ..... BTW I would suggest longer studs with any spacer .... unless you can install on open end lug nut and see the stud come thru when spacer and wheel is installed.... go to longer studs.... having a wheel part company on the road is dangerous and can cause big damage to your car.. later

I've got mardi's old wheels. You need a spacer on the back for sure, if you're going to run 300zx brakes in the front, you need spacers - I had to get longer studs.

IMHO, if you guys want a light 16" wheel AND want to run the Z calipers, it would be much easier just to find a set of na Z32 16x8 wheels and run though. Pretty light, look good, has the nissan hub bore, clears the calipers w/o spacer etc....

I know the FD wheels are pretty light and I understand the want to run them. But with the Z calipers, one has to fiddle with spacers etc.. a little too much. I don't think they save enough weight vs a na 300z wheel to justify the little (if any) weight savings.

I hear the Z32 wheel weight is a lot higher than they are posted as being online...ie. in multiple sources online, they say they are 16lbs a piece...much heavier than the 13.8lb FD wheels....additionally, I hear they are more like 19lbs for those that have actually put them on a scale....I thought the NA Z32 wheels were 16x7.5...

will any of those rota wheels fit....or kosei K1's?

http://www.machiii.net/Rota_wheels.html

I am looking at the slipstream, subzero, or grid 16"ers problem is they are only as large as 7" width...but the slipstream have multiple offset options which is nice! so I guess I would be restricted to running 225/50 r compounds...on the FD's I would be comfortable with up to 245/45 r comps...but b/c of the crappy +50 offset...I would have to get some large spacers to do that...which I don't want to do...

the kosei's are +38 offset I think for the 16"ers and are really light as well...they are also 7.5" width...but I don't know if they would clear the Z calipers...same goes for the rotas....they are also very affordable like the rotas...the xtra width over the rotas though 7.5 vs. 7 is worthless if you want them only for track use...ie r compounds as I don't think anyone makes r comps in 235 width which is optimal for 7.5" wheels....although you could put 245/45's on 7.5" rims...but you would get more sidewall flex...

so here is my question of the hour:
let say I got the kosei 16x7.5
what would ultimately grip/handle better?
225/50/16's--the rim is wider than the tire
245/45/16's--much more rubber on the ground and ever so slightly lower profile, but they buldge over slightly....

???

Briing this thread back from the dead.........

I am finally about to get some new summer tires and finally install the RX7 rims....

I have stock brakes, will I need a 5mm spacer on rear?

I then need new studs too?

I apologize I am not very familiar with this.

Will those RX-7 wheels fit on a 3rd Gen? Or is the fabricating the same for 3rd & 4th Gens?

i got on rx7 rims 16x8 with 225/50/16 and 5 mm spacer on back. Work just fine, stock breaks. i might be selling mine soon i want 17's. Id take the tires off and shipping would be cheap. There 15.6 pounds a rim or so. I was looking to go fast but i changed my look out on my car. Id do rims and stick in the spacers. Give me a PM if you looking....can take pics also.

I am looking at putting 225/55-16 tires on RS wheels that have a +40 offset on my car. I am getting a little nervous of the fit. Can this work on a 1.5" lowered 4th Gen? Do I need to throttle back to a 215/60?

Thanks,
neil

that size will work fine assuming the wheel width is not out of control, if it's anything normal like 7-9" it will be fine. some folks are running 255, 265, 275mm wide tires and only get minimal rubbing

Wheels are 7". I appreciate the info. That gives me the confidence to order the tires. I am going to try the BF Goodrich -g Sports.

OK thanks!

I need 5mm spacers for the rear.

What about longer studs? Is it safe to keep the stock studs???

Get the H&R spacers. I think you should be safe with stock studs and the 5mm spacers.
