TOYO Proxes TPT on 17" Stock
Okay guys. I see that stock, the choice are pretty limited. I think this is the only Toyo tire that is the same specs as my original tire. So what do you think of this tire? I havent found much info on it, but everyone seems to love the Toyo Proxies 4. I understand those are not OEM specs on my wheels (2001SE 17"). So what would you guys say is the difference between these two tires. I am looking for all-season so I would aprpeciate some help. Also how much should these cost me including the balance and install at a shop? Thanks in advance.

Funny you should ask, I just got these installed (225/50/17) last Saturday.
So far, I really like them. They are quiet, have good response to steering, and do not wallow in steady state turns. I have not experienced snow yet. I paid $671 installed, lifetime balance, rotation and road hazard and including tax. These are far better tires than the Kumho KH11s they replaced. I got 42k miles out of my RE92s, but in 20k miles on the Kumhos, they wore extremely unevenly. They all had a "sawtooth" pattern, and when I lifted the front end of car up to rotate tires, I noticed the fronts wore in a "W" shape from left to right. The tire was worn out in the center and edges only (pressure was 32). Toyo also offers a 45 day or 500 mile test period that will refund all the money including tax and install if you do not like them. These are quality tires.

Its kind of hard to compare to the RE92s, as it has been over a year. I also now have illuminas and maxspeeds, which changes things. I thought the KH11s had better wet grip, same handling, and harsher ride(with original springs) as RE92s. I also think the TPTs ride less harsh, are quieter, quicker turn in, stick in the wet as well, than the KH11s. The main thing I am worried about after my experience with the Kumhos is treadwear eveness. The TPTs have a 65k treadwear warranty and I believe a 400 wear rating.
They also appear to be wider than the RE92s and KH11s, even though they are OE size.
With the Kumhos, entering a medium speed sweeper, the car seemed to require more steering corrections to maintain the line. The TPTs, when I get
the line set, seems to require little to no "sawing" on the steering wheel.

I see, thanks. So do you guys think that I should go to a private installer for thi, or some place like Costco or sears? Aso any idea if Iw ould have to wheel alignment after adding new tires? Also I was aiming for no more than $500 installed, but it seems far from possible, right?
