Bridgestone Turanza LS-V review

Hello all, Here is my review of the Bridgstone Turanza LS-V tire in the stock 225/50/17 size. If you are looking for a replacement tire for the stock Potenza's, this is the tire for you! I have had these for about 3000 miles and have driven in wet, dry and snow so far. These tires are absolutely great, I just replaced my Falken Ziex's with these since I had so many problems with the Falkens. The Turanza's handle great, are quiet, resist hydroplaneing and provide good traction in the snow. I had Sears order them for me from tire rack. They charged me the tire rack price of $145 plus $10 per tire for shipping which is what I would have paid for shipping from tire rack anyway.

Can you hear road noise? Do the tires absorb bumps in the road better?

I've had my Potenzas for 40k miles and am looking to get rid of them in another 5k...they still have great tread on them.

When I got rid of my potenza's at 35,000k miles they still had some life on them but they were scary to drive on wet roads. The Turanza's have a very similar road noise level as the potenza's but they handle very good on wet roads with no hydroplanning. I drive in Boston so being able to handle the bumps in the road is a must for me and the Turanza's are around the same as the potenza's and much better than the Falkens.
Hope this helps...

I'm wondering if the Michelin Pilot A/S is quieter than the Turanza LS-V? Anyone had both?

Yes, me. I had the Pilots and pulled them off with barely 6k miles because of the very noisy ride, particularly on roughened concrete or coarse asphalt, as might be caused by studded tires. Turanzas are much quieter under these conditions as well as over lane dots. On smooth, fine blacktop, it's a toss-up.

Turanzas ride smoother than the Pilots as well

Sup All....

Quick question about the Turanzas...A rep told me that these tires will be discontinued pretty soon? Can anyone confirm that? Not sure if that was a desperate sales pitch, or if he was speaking truth...

What!!??? Well, I cant say I know, but....I find that highly, highly unlikely given that
a) they are brand-new tires -the LSVs havent been out for more than 18 months and
b) they are having such great reviews/acceptance that Bridgestone has not been able to keep some sizes in stock. Indeed, the 225/50/17 size of our '01 and later SEs was on national backorder for weeks at one point...

I call BS on that one......

Maybe he was talking about the EL-41 or EL-42s? Hell, the RE92s should have been taken off the marked 10 years ago and are they being phased out? I call it BS too.

I've been very pleased with my LS-Vs, but my mileage went into the toilet after I installed them (I have a thread on this in the 5th-gen forum). Has anyone else experienced this?

I've tried everything from Nissan's recommended pressure (32 PSI IIRC) up to 40 PSI. I've consistently gotten awful mileage. I really like the Turanzas otherwise, but I've lost more than 6 MPG, which is just ridiculous.

There has to be another reason. The rolling resistence of the LS-Vs can't be that much higher than the OEM crapenzas.

I'd say something else is wrong. No way you can lose 6MPG over a tire if the pressure is 35 PSI to 40 PSI. May want to check your:

fuel filter
plugs
fuel (could be crappy winter gas)
oil
brakes (could be dragging on the rotor)

yeah i doubt your tires are the problem. there are other factors that may weigh in to the reason why.

Ideally, the way to test your theory that it's the tires (which I doubt) would be to swap wheels for a couple of weeks with another 5th gen w/ OEM wheels and different tires, but unless you really are close to someone w/ a 5th gen, all your are going to get is laughs in your face.

The tires 'aint' the problem.

I have religiously tracked my mileage since the car is new, always filling up to fuel pump shutoff at exactly the same pump in the same two gas stations (except when on road trips) and there has been no appreciable delta in fuel mileage.

Indeed, just four weeks ago -with the lousy oxygenated fuel still- I got 366 miles on 15.6 gallons, following my normal, similar, routine...doing nothing different other than I'm driving a bit like a granny because of my screwed-up back, so....bottom line, I have not seen any degradation in mileage.

Yeah, I don't see how the tires could possibly make this much of a difference, but I'm stumped. Suggestions are welcome here.

My mileage has stayed the same since having the Turanza LSV's. I get a consistent 24mpg which is the same I had with the stock potenza's.

from my old thread: "Wow! After more driving time: great all round tires, secure, stable and reliable braking dry & wet: excellent traction dry(forget the torque steer of the ghastly Potenzas RE92s on hard acceleration) & wet (forget the chatter on hard acceleration from a stop), quiet, excellent road feel and handling and in snow: very good control, will spin if you accelerate too hard, but no sliding or loss of steering and on hard stops, straight and easy to manage(I've never used snow tires in my life here in Canada). These tires are perfect for me!

Ive been reading reviews on this tire and have found many different makes have experienced a drop in mileage. Most have said about 2-3 MPG. They have however said they love them though. I am still in the air on what to get.....I have about 5k to go

Sounds good.....by the way...How much are the turanzas. I am assuming they are priced about the same as the pilots. Thanks for the reponse.
