19" wheels

Anyone know the max tire size for a 19" rim is on a 5th gen? Will a 255/40 work?

Little big! The correct size would be 2353519 but I have 2254019 on front and 2553519 on rear (Tires were free). My wheels are only 7.5" wide and mounting the 255 wasn't a prob. Airing them up was the tough part. The 17" SE Wheels have 2255517 with a total diamiter of 26.74" and a 2554019 would be 27.04. Try to get a wheel 8-8.5 wide and you should have no problems.

????!! umm...i think that would work for an SUV maybe, but not for a max!! that would make the diameter of the tire/wheel 29 in. as opposed to 25.9 which makes your spedometer read 12.3% too slow (that is if we lived in a world where that tire size would fit on a maxima...)....more like 235/35 would work....

ok so let me get this straight....you want to know what tire size will fit on a FIFTH gen, because you sold a set of 19s to a person who owns one? THEN you said they fit great, so what's the problem?

on a side note, your post didnt provide enough information for everyone to figure out what you were talking about, because you didnt say it was for a friend, so dont get offended when we try to provide you with information that will help you to decide what tire size to use on a 5th gen, then go back and question why you were asking this in a 5th gen forum when you own a 6th gen...

well maxi, I figured if I asked someone who OWNS a 5th gen maybe I could get an answer. I was wondering if they would fit before we tried mounting. I pretty much said phuq it and tried it anyway before I came back to this... So know I guess im telling you 5TH GEN guys that 255/40's will fit. And it looks great!

woah... wassop with the hostility? mounting 255's on a 7.5" rim is kinda dangerous, what if u for some reason slide into a pot hole or curb? wouldn't the tire come off? it's happened to my friend before. he mounted tires that were too wide for the rim, and then he hit something and then it cracked the bead... nothing was broken tho, the rim was just scratched up real bad.

mango, the rims are 19x8.5. Thanks for the comps guys. Its not my ride. These are the wheels I just sold. I was wondering if theyd fit but got no response. We went ahead and mounted without any prob's. Now its certain that you 5th gen guys can run 255/40's on a 19" rim without rubbing...
