Offset Confusion

I been reading some forums where people are talking about the offset of the wheels. Can someone explain what the offset is and what it means. THX

the center of the rim is "0" offset... to accomodate for a wider rim like a 8-9'' wide rim you will have to get a higher offset... the wider the rim the higer the offset..

on our 6th gen for EX.. the sl has a 17x7'' rim with a 35mm offset... the se has a 18x8'' rim and a 45mm offset.. see the diffrence.. 1'' wider results in a 10mm offset increase so that the inside of the rim does not hit the inside wall on the car...

depends what car you have, it would on a 5th gen and up that I know of.. and you might have to get a small tire wall so it won't rub on the front..

You mean 45mm offset is much far from the center then 35mm.

picture is kinda confusing. So you are saying that rims w/ 10mm offset will sit further in than rims w/ 50mm offset? Because rims w/ 10mm will sit much further out than 50mm offset rims.

yea you kinda have to imagine it in your head.. se how the center is always the same and the hub is the only thing being moved.. well if you move the hub out<--------- this way, which is negative offset your caliper and disk will be farther in the wheel, causing the rim to be farther out in the wheel well.. causing a rub..

No tek-nig

The smalled the number, ex 35 the more it will stick out.

The pictures are diffricuilt to explain so dnt worry about them

I know because stock rims are 40 offset, and i bought 35 and i stick out alittle bit, the good part is i can make a full wheel lock both ways with no rub.

Bad part is im dropped alot so the rear doesnt tuck and it rubs with weight in the car.

you should stick with a 40 offset, 45 will be to far in and will look stupid plus it might rub on the inside wehn you turn

I just bought rims (look in the sig) so trust me.

Will i have trouble then putting a 43mm offset wheel with 245/35/19x8.5? How do u think it might look.

YOu should stick with a offset in the 35-40 range, 43 will look very tucked and deep in wheel well. And yu might rub the inside wall on a full u-turn.

My rims are 19x8.5, i looked at hyper black but i figured i might as well go all out when i bought them.

They are for sale by the way.....http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=391429
