wheel question

sup rubber guys,
i just bought a set of 18x7.5 rims and i wanted to buy a set of bfgoodrich t/a kdw-2 in this size 235/40 YR18 but on tirerack it says this tire is only for 8-9.5 rim width. i was wondering if its still ok to put these tires on those wheels.

i also wanted to know if this wheel would clear the 6th gen brake kit for the 4th gens.my wheel is a r1 gtr-10 18x7.5 and i think is a 40 offset but im not sure.
thanks

Says right in there, 8" is the min. Why would you still think it's "ok" when the tire maker says it's not?

i was just asking a question, i was going to try the 225 but i have heard of people running larger so i wanted to know if it was dependent on the tire or if people just went against the rules

Will it fit? Probably
Will you get someone to mount them? Maybe
Will you have a chance in hell if a warranty issue comes up? Definately not.
Is it worth it for 10mm of width? Hell no IMHO.

I know it wasn't recommended. No problem yet after 6 months. People have been running 235s on their 5th gen OEM wheels (17 x 7) w/out any problems either.

Is that the extent of your validation to use the wrong sized tires for your wheels? If you want to do that, fine. It's not my car.

I know it's my car. I've done it and so did many others. I don't know why liqidvenom would have any problems with his setup. Do you always follow recommendations? Doubt it.

He might. He might not. Is the extra 10mm of width worth the risk and NO warranty? IMHO not in a million years.

Sorry for the directness. But people just ignore or avoid the advice if I sugar coat it. I could MAYBE understand if you got the tires for cheap or if you already had them. But you don't. So why not just get tires that are CORRECT for the wheel width?? What's the big deal about running 245s?? I have run 235s and 245s on my 8" wheels. I'd rather run the 235s.

Here is my view. I could run 4 lug nuts on my 5 lug wheels and be fine for months or even years. Would you do it?

No I wouldn't because extra lug doesn't cost 120+ dollars. I had these tires to mount on my 18x8.5 rims but sold the rims and I couldn't return these tires. Didn't want to go through hassle of selling and buying another set because I knew I would loose money.
