Tire raplcement help

My 2002 Maxima SE is due for new tires. I was thinking of the Bridgestone S-03 Pole Position. I can get them for $145 each. Thoughts?

have you considered going with Cooper, Continental, Toyo or Falken tires? For a stock replacement 225/50/VR17 I've seen prices ranging from $98 to $130 for each tire. No question Michelin is top notch, but you can get the same performance for less value in not-so-popular tire brands.

I got BFGoodrich Traction T/A in 235/45/17 and so far im very happy. Road noise is better than the Yokohama AVS ES100s I had before, and traction is excellent for an H rated tire. 60,000 mile warranty too...

I have Cooper Lifeliner Touring 235/50/17 mounted on 17" x 8" wheels. A lot better than the loud Nitto's.

Do you believe everything that a seller puts out? Not saying they're wrong or dishonest, but just be careful with that...

I have Falken ZEIX 512s, not the best out there, but I like em and they're cheap... Toyo Proxes come highly recommended too....

I agree with puppetmaster. I have the toyo proxies 4 and through all the tires ive driven on they seem to be the best all around tire.

Damn, where can I get hooked up with such a good deal??? Are you sure that's for new tires? If what you want is summer tires I'd jump all over that, provided they are new and the right size (off spec at 235/45R17 I imagine). The S-03s will make your max handle like it's on rails in the turns, but at the expense of ride comfort. I assume you have a set of snow tires and that's the reason you're looking into maximum performance summer tires plus you know the level of perfomance you want out of the tires. If not get the Toyos.

I disagree with anyone who mentioned any of the second tier brands, except the Toyos. Most will be on the opposite end of the performance spectrum, really biased towards comfort, squirmy and lacking turn in sharpness and cornering stability. So if you are looking into an all season tire, the Proxes 4 are a great value followed by the LS-Vs. The Pilot Sport A/S are as good as these other choices but they are too pricey considering you can get similar performance out of the Proxes 4 or the LS-Vs (and less noise). If you're looking for summer tires, get the S-03s, but be warned that the ride will be very harsh (but very rewarding in winding roads ).

Anyway, if I were you, I'd jump all over the S-03s at that price if they are new (BlackBirdVQ will disagree with me on this one, but those are $200 tires, not $145) but make sure you have a set of snow tires or another winter car.

S-03's are a great choice. They're among my short list for my next tire purchase...

stay away from bridgestone period! go with toyo proxes michelins or even pirelli's if you can get in oem size.

Ended up getting Michelin Pilot Sports A/S Total was $870. Got a lifetime replacement warranty, $50 visa gift card, and $50 mail in rebate, so total was $770.

Awesome tires!

after reading several reviews i decided to go with the bridgestone turanza LS-V tire

i like it a lot so far, it hugs corners good, has good traction, and its smooth on the highway

i got it for $688 from blatt after tax and all the mounting and service junk

plus im getting a $100 rebate from bridgestone

if you act fast you might be able to get them to predate a receipt for you, you need somthing prior to may 8th for the rebate

w00t
