installing tires

I am thinking about ordering tires (Kumho) from tirerack. When i get them, where can i get them installed locally? there will be charge for that?

ah...the true hidden cost of tirerack. Besides tax and shipping finding a place to mount the tires is another cost. Usually it's going to be about $15 a tire at a normal place. I don't see where you're from but ordering from a discount tire usually works out better as the cost of installation is included and they have the road hazard offered from them instead of going through a third party. Just my observations from when I bought tires. I got the Dunlop Direzza 245/35-19 for $180 a tire mounted/balance/warranty. It shows as $147 a tire but after the shipping/tax/warranty/installation it came up as more. Good luck.

Any shop will mount tires bought elsewhere, for a fee of course. Figure mounting and balancing four tires will run you $50 up to $100, depending on where you go. Hunter balancing may be even higher.

At best, it will be a wash. I've bought both locally and through both tirerrack.com and discountire.com, and will not buy via the internet again unless it's a sweet deal. In addition to xtant's points, you can negotiate with the local guys (unless they are a large company) plus if you hate the tires, most will take them back and exchange them for something different.
