If the rotors have enough life in them they might be able to be turned by the mechanic, meaning he could shave them slightly to get rid of the glaze.

WD40?? Just kidding. Sounds like even pulling the rotors and sanding them youself with some 220 grit or 320 grit garnet paper would help. If pads and rotors are smooth, do this, then clean all parts with brake cleaner, including the anti squeel shims, re-install with brake quiet glue stuff and see if this doesn't take care of it.

Won't new brake pads (given the calipers are working correctly) clean the glaze off the rotors after some use?

after i got the YOKI pads on teh brakes.. i did this brake breakin thing that i saw on some BMW performance thing...

in teh middle of the night.. the brakes were smoking ike they were on fire.. it was nice.. and it made the rotor nice and even so now on highway i can brake hard and it wont be shaky... also i learned that if u break hard try not to come to complete stop.. ebcuase the material form teh pad transfered over to the rotor.. somethign tlike that..

but go with the Yok ceramic pads.. i got them from parts authority for 35$ =) just front.. dealer account... hehehe
