245/40/18 for our 4th gen...will it work?

I saw a set of 18" rims that come with 245/40/18 Nitto nt555 tires. Tirerack recommends 235/40/18. Will the 245's represent a problem with rubbing, or any other driving scenarios? Also, how good are Nitto nt555's? Thanks. I have a couple links here as to both tire and wheel, what do you guys think about the wheels for the MAX?

They'll be fine in back. But in front, even 225's stick out from under the fender. I grab'd a used set of G35C wheels which are staggered 225/18 in front and 245/18 in back. I personally like how the 225's in front are "slightly" out. Gives it a wider and slightly meaner stance w/o looking too weird.

adding to the above... try to stay as close to an offset of 38-40mm. I have 35mm and it's OK.

Sorry to sound like a newbie, but by the offset do you mean the lip?

Just got 245/40s on my 18s & I'm very pleased w/them. 18x8 w/40mm offset. No pics of the new tires though. I was running 235s before.

Not necessarily... "lip" depends on spoke design and offset... go to tirerack.com for definition/illustration of offset.

Well, the good news is the Konig customer rep said the Konig Imagine Wheel will fit a 99 Maxima SE and the offset is 38mm which Chunger says should be ideal. Now to finalize a deal I found on ebay...the rims and Nitto nt555 245/40/18 tires for around $800. I think it's meant to be because the guy selling them lives here by me in Chicago so I can check it out before purchase!

Thanks for the great input everyone.

Well, I am out of luck on the ebay Konig wheels I found because the bolt pattern is different than what I need. Thanks Cefiro, but I would much rather put on Good Year Eagle F1 GS3's which I can get for around $500 in a 235/40/18 through my friend's shop.

Yours stuck out because you have the wrong offset. You know the G is rwd right?
I have 245's on the front, and they are recessed about 1/4". Some local guy is running like 265's and they fit!
