Rar end loosey goosey.....why?

Running the following setup:

Tokico Blue shocks (30k on them)
H&R Springs
EBay FSTB
Addco RSB
5Zigen FN01R-C 18" x 7.5 Rims
18-235-40 Yokohama Parada Spec-2 rubber (>5k on them)

When on long sweeping curves (like a cloverleaf) > 40mph the car will hit even the slightest dip in the road then suddenly the rear end just wants to break loose. I have to really fight to keep it on the road...it doesn't ACTUALLY break loose, but I can feel the rear end pulling hard.....when going straight the suspension feels fine and when stopping suddenly I don't get any "dead shock bounce".

On sharp corners at <30mph it feels just fine.

Anyone know what causes this?

What would happen if you took the RSB off as an experiment? Have you always experienced this situation on these types of curves? If not, what has changed is the obvious question to be asked in any problem-solving exercise.

But I want a quick easy answer!

It happened long after I put the RSB on....just started one day - hadn't done any mods in a few months, and none to the suspension in about a year.

I'll try taking the RSB off anyway just fo sh*ts and giggles.

try adjusting your RSB instead of taking it off. the instructions that came with the RSB should have the adjustment documentation.

How much air pressure are you running in your tires? If the pressure is too high the side wall can't absorb the impact "launching" the rear end. I had this issue in my 95.

Um, suspensions are made to absorb impacts.

What is your PSI all around? May want to set the rears 2psi lower than fronts.

Another reason may be the 235's on 7.5" wheels. That will cause a lot of sidewall flex, and wouldn't happen much if an 8 or 8.5" wide wheel is used.

Yet another possibilty may be the bad design of the Addco Rear Sway Bar. It shouldn't attach to the beam itself, and the fact that it uses squishy bushings to mount it, causes some sloppy movements.

I would try the shocks. My oem shocks did this just before I replaced them. The back end would get squirrelly on bumps in a curve and also started bottoming out on railroad track crossings with people in the back seat. New Tokicos took care of the problem. Just my experience.

Suspension and tires directly effect how the car handles. Take the stock 205/65/15 tire from the 95 and it will absorb a lot more road imperfections then the 17/18's on the 04 Max ever will. If you over inflate the tire the extra firmness will add to the stiffness of the suspension. Highly inflated tires will bulge out slightly thus wearing the middle of the tire and giving less contact area with the road. Sidewall flex will not cause you to loose traction with the road. It will give you a sloppy feeling. With an over inflated tire the tire will bounce like a ball rather then staying in contact with the road.
