Lightweight Rims

What exact size are the 2001 se rims are they 17x7 or 17x8.
I saw a set of Kosei K1 TS 17x7 14.1 lbs 17x8 15.5lbs. The price of these are pretty cheap 199 ea. for the 17x7 and 239 ea. for the 17x8. I'm not much for 18 or 19 because I don't feel like getting pissed the first little pothole I hit and I bend it. I rather have the peace of mind and I have 4 new proxes 4 235 45 17 on my stock wheels I would just transfer over. what different look would my car have between the 2 sets. Are there lighter rims in the same price range?

Those rims are fairly light. I have 18" alloy rims and they are 19lbs. each. I'm not sure about your other questions. It's not fun when I hit a pothole but my rims and tires came with the car so.......

if you look on tirerack, you will see the 17X8 wheels and up use a process called roll forging. i went with the K1 TS (dark grey in 17X8 because of its strength, looks and price. i run a 245/45/17 on the 8" wheel but a 235/45/17 would work fine. in my opinion, there is a wider array of tire sizes to choose from when you go with the 8" wheel so that was another selling point for me. i had a friend who had a tirerack account so i ended up getting them pretty cheap. fyi- i am not suggesting these would not bend or crack under harsh conditions, even fully forged wheels can but it lessens the likelihood.

I like that 17x8 because of the wider look its gonna give and at 15.5 lbs thats great. I don't think that the 1.4 lbs per rim is gonna make to much of a dif. Do u have any pics of those rims on ur ride? One of my boys has a Bus account with them also. Is that the lightest rim the have for the max?

stock se wheels are 17x7...

check out the ssr competitions, i think they're just a tad lighter or around the same weight. They're a little more expensive though. I think you'll be able to fit the 235's on the 8" wide wheel (some one correct me if i'm wrong)

I like Volks or SSRs but they are expensive

there are a few pics on my cardomain site but the are not the greatest pictures. they are not the lightest rim available but for the money and durability, i do not think they can be beat. check with your friend, you should save a good bit of money going through him. some of the ssr's would have been my choice for looks and weight but i would not spend that kind of money on wheels.

while i would not describe them as cheap, i am confident i meet all 3 measures. while roads in charlotte are nothing like say new york or dc, they can be fairly punishing. only time will tell i suppose. i paid around 150, they weigh 15.5 lbs and the process i was talking about is best described by kosei
"Single-piece low-pressure casting is heat-treated for optimum strength
17" wheels (8" and wider) and all 18" diameter wheels use a Super-Formed rim section exhibiting characteristics similar to that of a forging."

If you dont mind getting used wheels, look for Work, SSR, Rays, Volk, Sparco, Enkei, Kosei wheels on Ebay. Find the ones you like the most and then look up the wheel weight on www.wheelweights.net. My Enkei are not the lightest wheels around but I like the way they look, and they weight around 18lbs for 17x8 38mm offset wheels. Still way lighter than the OEM wheels.
