Tire/Wheel Newbie - 17" limits
Tire/Wheel Newbie - 17" limits
Running 4gen max, looking for wheels and tires. Any help on the following questions would be greatly appreciated:
- Will a 17 x 8 rim work without modification on a 4th gen? Are any spacers or offset requirements required?
- What size rubber is reccomended for a 17 x 8 wheel to keep my speedo happy and avoid rubbing?
- Any good sources to get a good price on used 17" stock wheels from G35/2k+ Maxima/350Z?
Thanks in advance for the advice...

17x8 fits fine without any modifications nor spacers.
I have 17x8 Momo Sport rims.
225/50R17 or 235/45R17 fits this size
go to tirerack.com or 1010tires.com for choices
I'm getting a set of 235/45R17 Pirelli P-Zero Nero M&S after work today.

Oh yeah, stay away from Falken Ziex ZE-512's because they don't last very long, have weak sidewalls and have annoying road noise. Not very confidence-inspiring in the wet. My second choice was the Toyo Proxes 4's. I went for the Pirellis for a little more longevity.
Just my 2 cents on the 512's - I drive 100 miles a day on mine - LA miles mind you, the roads are atrocious. I have about 25K on them so far and they are in great shape - at least 60% tread left, probably more.
I don't notice any excessive road noise or anything - running 245/40/18's - I like them personally...

I can safely say that I am the biggest detractor to the Falken 512s in this forum. I can't believe people can live with lousy, mushy handling, no precision tires for two-three years, but I guess to each their own. I can only hope to save one person the aggravation; I wish someone would have done the same for me when I was shopping for tires.
Oh, yeah. Check out the Turanza LS-Vs, Kumho ECSTA ASXs and the Toyo Proxes 4. Whatever you do, buy them locally and make sure you can take them back if you hate them.

I got 17x7 +30 offsets. I bought em cos they have cheaper tyres cos me is poor ^o^. I'm going to put it on a 98 i30. No probs with sticking out? or being in? I heard spacers can work wonders as well. Any help would be appreciated.
