Wheels/tires Sticky? G35 wheels on maximas

So, you're saying the 235 width is too wide for a 7" wide rim?
I'm now wondering if 215/50/17 wouldn't be better and closer to stock?
Thanks for the input.

Actually, a 235 width is too wide for a 7" wide rim according to this chart.

It is technically, but depending on the type of tire depends how much you can push those limits. I know a lot of mustang guys with 6 or 6.5 in width rims and 225 width tires.
Which always shocks me cause I have 7.5in rims and 235s are supposed to be 10mm oversize even for them.

Now, I'm wondering if I shouldn't just stick with the stock wheels and sell the G35 wheels.

I'd keep the G wheels! I'm fairly sure that chart is mostly a general guide. You should be able to check out the approved rim widths for your specific tire from either the manufacturer or a reseller like Tire Rack.
For instance, here's the link to the General Exclaim UHP's off TR: link The approved rim width for 235/45/17 is 7.5" - 9". It's also the same for the Avon Tech M550 A/S. Now, the 225/50/17 is good for 6"-8" widths. Honestly, 0.5" shouldn't make much of a difference, since many people use 235/45/17 with 7" wide rims with no problems.

17" G35c wheel swap
I have a set of 17" Infinity G35 Coupe wheels that are staggered (7.5" front, 8" rear), wondering if anyone would like to swap the 8's for 7.5's, or vice versa? As it stands, I cannot rotate tires, just curious if someone else is the same situation and would want to swap? PM me if interested.
PS - My wheels are the gray versions.

'04 sedan (5 spoke) 17's anyone?
i would like to see some more pics of these on a max if possible. i only saw one in this thread and it wasn't the best picture. 4th gen if anyone has it, but just max in general.
does anyone have or know of a set of these for sale?

Ok, need help here guys. The G35 Coupe 18" wheels have a "definative" marking to decipher Front and Rear. Can I use the rears for the front and vice versa if I choose, without any bad effects from it? Seems like the front and rear specs match up.
Any help is appreciate. I won 2 rears off ebay (they are true oem) and am in search for the fronts, unless I don't need to.
As well, would there be enough clearance for 245/40/18 vs 235/40/18 if I want to go a little wider? (03 SE)
Sorry if this has been asked before. -----long thread-----

^ It won't matter at all. I think I'm using 3 rears... All 18's are the same width and offset, so front/rear are just FYI, really. I'm using 225/45/18. I can safely tell you 245/45/18 rubbed in the rear constantly, but has worked for others (even lowered). 245/40/18 may not rub, but IMO, I would stick to 235/40/18.

Paramy, he's right. They are only marked front/rear since on the G you run different tires front/rear and some idiots can't read the sidewall, I guess
Fronts and rears are same size, width, and offset.
I would suggest 235/40/18, but 245/40/18 shouldn't rub if you trim down the little tabs in the rear wheel well that stick into the tire....right where the rear bumper upper lip attaches to the wheel well. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.

i have a set of '03 g35 sedan 17's (5 spoke) on the way - i'll put up pics, as they will be the first i have seen here, at least in this thread.
on a related note, i need nissan center caps for them since i bought my max with its current aftermarket rims on it. i can't post a WTB since i'm new - does anyone have the 2000 gxe/se/gle or other caps that will fit infiniti's? i can't seem to find them on ebay, only the ones that people have said that DON'T fit.
*edit - for ease of searching/ID'ing good ones, what are part numbers of the ones mentioned that work for sure? most places i find center caps online the descriptions are very vague and may not include model or year it fits...

Ok. I have some conflicting issues about the G35 wheels on a 4th gen max. I really want the 18's, but in the 4th gen forum they said that i couldn't use them and that it was impossible to do. Something about torque spline bearings. Also, they said that I would have to run a 2" spacer to get the 17 coupe wheels to work. I have a guy who has both sets 17's and 18's and he will give me either set that I want, but I need to know which set will work. Like I said, I would prefer the 18's but I also like the 17's. Can someone please let me know for sure which will work.

OK, I bought a set of the G35 coupe 17's on eBay for 250 bucks. They aren't the replica. These are the real deal. I was wondering what size tire should I run on them. I was thinking about going with a 225/45/17. They are staggered, but I figured I could go 225 all around. Or would a 235 be better. Is a 45 too thin?

New Shoes
I just got a set of the '03 sedan wheels - 5 spoke 17's. If I'm not mistaken, they will be the first I've seen on here, at least in this thread, and they are CLEAN. I like the simple elegance of the 5 spoke, and compared to aftermarkets such as Kyowas or something with a similar style, I actually like these better. I'll get some pics up in the next day or so as soon as I give her a bath. A smooth and sexy ride compared to the CHROME 18's that the fool I bought the car from had on there - I lost 10 lbs per wheel when I swapped them out!!!

The G sedan 17s are narrower and have a higher offset.

I assume you mean these?

^^^ yes, everyone and their little sister have the 6- and 7-spoke ones but i was saying that there has not been a 5-spoke one posted in this thread, which is, after, the g35 wheel thread.
here she is, before the makeover - atrocious! (and for sale )
and after (center caps in progress)
i know, i know - the drop is the next thing, when i get some cash back from the 18's. it was even more ridiculous when it still had those on - ghetto 4x4
