Wheel Spacers

Other then the fact that depending on the size of the spacers you may have to install longer wheel studs, are there any real concerns with using wheel spacers on the max. For example.....I see that some people have hammered in the dust cap on the rear to help with new wheel fitment but why not just install wheel spacers ?

Because hammering in the dust cap is free and buying spacers is not? Some people feel that if the wheel isn't mounted on the hub lip, that the wheel can become unstable and wobble. I personally feel that if you mount and torque the wheels down properly, you will be fine. I've been running spacers for two years and have never had a vibration problem.

I also have had H&R spacers for years on my old wheels and had no problem with anything. Just buy quality hub centric spacers like H&R not those universal pepboys type.

Does the dustcap come off? I got new 18 wheels and the wheel caps wont fit on the rear, as well on the front. I am getting wheel spaces for front and rear. However there are dust caps on the rear that will have to come off so i can fit my wheel caps. Do they come off? Is there a solution? I got pics here -> http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2087456

Wheel Spacers

Not sure if they come off or not ? Sounds like most people just pound in the dust caps. Depending on the wheel might look better with spacers anyway.

i've had 5mm spacers in the rear since may... My wheels wouldnt clear the hub, i tried smashing the dust cap, but the wheels still wouldnt fit. So i replace the smashed cap with a new one, got longer studs, and added a 5mm spacer. No problems so far.
