Tire repair
I have a screw stuck on one of my tires (on tread not sidewall) so I figured I'd try fixing it myself. I picked up one of those tire fixing kits from an autostore and the package claims that it's only for temporary fix. It's one of those long, thick, and sticky string-looking things - I hope someone here knows what I'm talking about. You're supposed to make a hole in the tire and stick that in there and pull it out. Has anyone done this? Do these things work? Permanently? They also had the bandage looking ones but this one looked easier to use.
Thanks.
Thanks.

the sticky string thing is called a "plug" i believe. those things leak half of the time. i work at discount tire adn everytime someoem brings in a tire with a plug we are required to patch it using a our patches which are sort of like a "badge" with a sort of plug that goes into the hole thats attached.
they dont take that long to do, just take it in and get it done. if you bought your tires from a discount tire the flat repair should be free.
i personally would never fix a flat myself. (at home repair)

Thanks, chillin. I had a friend who had used the "plug" on his truck and it was fine for the whole time that he had it (traded it in within a month so never got to find out how long the fix was good for) but I was still skeptical.
