Tire stores says they'll do it but specs say differently
So I'm about to put back on the stock wheels which are 18 x7.5 and KcMaxx made an interesting find on Kuhmo Ecsta Asx tires for $126 a piece. Downfall is, the stock size is 245/45/18 and these tires are 255/45/18.
According to specs, a tire width of 255mm (255mm/25.4 = 10.03 in) is suppose to go on a wheel with a minimum width of 8 in.
The tire store around me said they could squeeze the tire on. Is that a good idea?
The price is well worth it but is it safe?

I have stock 17x7s and I have 235/45/17s which are supposed to be on a rim of minimum 7.5" width. Many others have also done this without major issues. But keep in mind that there is always the risk of failure, even if no one else has reported any incidents. Most tire places won't recommend it or even mount tires that are out of the spec. The things that I take care to do are to ensure that my tires are properly inflated (34-36 all round) and I don't take em auto-xing or something like that.
