The 255s are going to be taller than stock. What size rims are you using??? you can't run 255s on stock SE wheels... 225/50/16 is pushing it for the stock rim. However 255/50/16 is .7" taller than stock 255/60 is 2.7" taller. I think the 255/50s could fit on the proper rim.

the stock SE wheel is 16x6.5 if you want a larger tire for the stock wheel you have 2 to pick from. 225/50/16 is wider and about .5" shorter. I've used this setup and had no problems. 235/50/16 is wider and the same height as the stock tire..... only problem is 235s are hard to find and more expensive. the 235 is the max recomended for a 6.5" wheel. Rule of thumb is to keep the tire section width under 2" larger than the wheel width. The 255s you ask about are over 10" in section width. I like to keep the tire around 1" larger that the wheel ..... but thats me.

225/55 is .4" taller than stock... it's .8" taller than a 225/50... 235/55 is .9" taller than stock. At stock ride height you won't rub with either tire, however I think the taller tires make the car look kinda like 4X4 .... the 225/50s make the stock fender gap look HUGE so 225/55 might be the ticket.
