So the rims are red now, but you want to paint them black? So you are asking if black rims would look good? I think pictures of the rims would be a nice addition to this question and maybe a picture of your car.
More info needed.....

would the black primer be temporary or permanent? If temporary then okay, but if permanent, i wouldn't do it. Go with glossy....

Red wheels sounds kinda funny, but i would give you creativity points if you end up getting them....

you weren't even born when the first maximas came out

what d'ya know about old skool??

I can tell you, that in the "old skool" days, cars didn't have red wheels (except for, as I recall, one year of Pontiac Bonneville in the 80s came with them). Know why? Because even in the CHEESY '80s, they still looked lame.

(oh, and primered black isn't oldskool either....the only people who drive around like that are those who just replaced body panels and are too cheap to get a real paint job .....oh, and rednecks.)

jeeps can get away with that, since their paint gets thrashed anyways when offroading, but not full-size sedans.

The only car that looked coll with red rims was the Alitalia sponsored Lancia Stratos Gp. 5 car.

I'd be willing to bet that you and I are the only ones in this forum who knows what that is

(of course, I used to own a Lancia )

there's actually one of the original group Stratos cars at a Ferrari dealer in milan....saw it there years ago. IIRC, the Stratos actually used a Ferrari Dino engine, didn't it?

I myself am partial to the ralleye version of the car I had, the Delta Integrale Evo ....that thing was a BLAST to drive....

My car isn't totally painted yet (hopefully in the spring), but damn what is it with TN and painting there cars/civics primered black!???? If I was gonna spend money on paint I would spend it on paint that shines in the sunlight, not some dull looking pile of ****.

To answer your question, it would look fugly. Case closed.
