Changing 02 I35 Wheels to 00 Max GLE

I've got a question about the wheels on the 2002 I35. My dad has the I35 with the sport package, and the 17" 6-spoke wheels with the Infiniti center cap. I have a GLE with the 16" 5-spoke. I'm 99% sure we can simply swap wheels with no problem, but I'm wondering if anyone else has done this? I've been searching and can't find any posts about this. According to the stickies, my rims are 16" x 6" w/ 40mm offset and the I35 is 17" x 7" w/ 45mm offset. The only problem I can possibly see is my wheels not clearing the I35's rotors. Also, does Nissan/Infiniti make Nissan center caps to replace the Infiniti ones?

They should fit fine. The I35 has the same hubs, rotors, calipers, etc as the 5th gen Maxima. The 5th gen SE stock wheels are 17x7 with a 42/45mm offset.

Some center caps will fit, though I'm not sure what size the I35 ones are. I have G35 wheels on the max and use center caps from a 2000 GXE 16" wheel.

I'm confused, because sport package I35 wheels are 8-spoke, like the ones in my sig. The regular I35 wheels are 6-spoke.

However, regardless of which wheels they are, they should both fit with no problems whatsoever. Sport wheels are indeed 17x7 with 45 mm offset.

And if they are the sport wheels, then you might have an option on centercaps. Every now and then I see centercaps for those style wheels on eBay, but they are blank - i.e. they have no Infiniti logo. That might be your best option as I've never seen any with the Nissan logo.

If they are the regular I35 wheels then I can't help on the centers...never had any up-close experience with those.

Oh and as for the brakes -

I've fit the 16" 5-spoke S14 240SX SE wheels on my car over the stock brakes without any interference.

I'd be willing to bet your 16s would clear as well. At least give it a try, couldn't take more than 10 minutes to find out.

I have the wheels you are talking about, havent put them on my max yet. Dont know about caliber clearance, but the center caps will have to be a custom job....ebay has chrome center caps with no logo, but none oem without logo....i looked at the cap and the infiniti logo is riveted in by 2 posts on the backside of the cap....looks like you could dremel it smooth and pop off the logo...without damaging cap....havent tried this cause i need a spare cap to experiment with.....also the stock nissan logo from the trunk of my maxima seems to be a perfect fit to replace the infiniti emblem....i think the infiniti emblem looks better and has a lower profile so i might keep it...hope this helps
