For anyone who's upgraded 6 gen wheels

new owner of a 6 gen
i want to change the wheels and i've been eyeing buying some 20's

tho after doing research both on the net and on these forums, i 'm not getting a straight answer

so i ask............

for anyone that's upgraded the wheels on a 6 gen, what size did you put?
if you put 20's, did you lose a lot in speed, torque etc. when you did?

did the same thing happen to those who went and purchased 19"?
what about those who have an SL and went from 17 to 18+?

let me know

Try using the tire calculator, this should help you determine what size rim/tire you can run while staying relatively close to your stock rim/tire diameter. This way you won't lose any speed or torque??

DONT do 20's IMO....i was debating the 20's. To heavy, for braking and accelerating. I upgraded to bigger wheels but lighter. I went from the stock SE wheels that weight 28 lbs to a set of Rays Engineering wheels same as VOLK but made for NISMO. They are 19 x 8.5 and weight 20.8 lbs. Do some HW and youll make the right choice. Check out my cardomain for pics.
Thanks
J

Anytime you go bigger its going to effect acceleration. Its just a trade off for better looks.

thanks for all your comments so far, it's really hard to find something that seems aesthetically appealing as well as something that won't decrease the performance of the car

i was thinking black rims with chrome on the lip, but i'm worried that my car won't perform as well

anyone else who wants to give their $0.02, please do

Black with the chrome lip would look really good in a 20" rim! However weight should be the first priority then looks. The supermesh rims would look nice on your car as well maybe in a 19" rim with a bit more sidewall for better ride quality. Good luck!

what brands do you know of make rims that are light weight?

also

i heard that you can't really chrome just the lip of a rim, is that true?

if that's not true, what manufacturers make that because everyone seems to sell either all in chrome or not at all?
