Rim size for 2" lip

It depends on what offset you plan on using. A narrow wheel can have a big lip if the offset is low. Conversely, a wide wheel might not have any lip if it's a high offset.
Wheels that have spokes that curve in on the outside have poser "lip." The spokes need to be flat, or slant in towards the hub to have true lip.To calculate the maximum lip possible, just divide wheel width by 2, then subtract the offset, and subtract spoke thickness.
So with a maxima fitment in mind, let's consider an 8" wide wheel, with 35 offset. 8" /2= 4" (101mm). So that's half the wheel width. Subtract 35mm offset, and you get 66mm. Then subtract the spoke thickness, and let's say you found a really thin wheel and the spokes are only .5" (~13mm) So 66mm-13mm= 53mm. That would give a lip of about 53mm, or 2.1".
Remember that the spokes would have to be straight, and with a 35 offset, there won't be much room for brakes. So these wheels would only fit on the back. If you want to use the same wheels up front, you have to find a manufacturer that makes wheels in different disk heights. High disk for the front, low disk in the rear. Front won't have much lip though.

And are you referring to the "maxis lip"? That's for posers! Maybe you missed the whole point that spokes that curve in don't count.
Straight from Axis website:
"The Axis Maxis Lip is a patented design feature of the Axis MOD and all new Axis Decade wheels that allows cars to have the staggered look that could not normally take staggered wheels. This means that the front and rear wheels are both 18x8 and run the same size tire, but the Axis Decade will look like it's staggered due to the larger lip the Maxis Lip System gives the Axis Decade."
I'm referring to these wheels, I read about it on Modified Mag. It still seems like a Maxis Lip wheel to me. But what the heck, it looks decent.

Yes I know the "maxis lip" is the poser lip. A friend of mine with a civic has the 18x8 axis decade and it looks...funny. Although at one point, I saw myself buying one so I don't have to shell out the big money for the "real" deep dish wheels.
