Borbet Type FS 18x8.5/17.5. 24.5/22 lbs- Should I get em???
I'm seriously considering these rims, I found em on tire rack, I recommend taking a look at em. Some of things i'd like some help on...
-I like the wide 8.5 but are there any downside having such a wide wheel versus the 7.5(obviously price, weight), stock is 7 right? I live in NE so theres some bumpy roads. Which would be stronger?, I guess the 7.5
-Do you think they are strong enough for somewhat bumpy roads? They are so light I'm worried a bit about strength, they only $249, if you get what you pay for then these sound to good to be true.
-and what do you think of the look?
-What size tires should i get for em
Stats from the page:
Finish Shown: Bright Silver Paint
Size Selected: 18x8.5
Price: $249 each
Estimated Availability: In Stock
Recommended Tire Size: 235/45-18
Wheel Offset: +35mm
** Lightweight: 24.5 lbs. **
Additional Specs
Bolt Pattern: 5-114
Finish Warranty: 2 Years
Country of Origin: Germany
Construction Type: 1pc. Low-pressure ca
let me know what you think
thanks

Dude those wheels are heavy as isht... 24.5lbs is not even close to light. Even getting close to "light" for an 18x8.5" wheel would be like under 18lbs. 8.5" width is pretty typical on a maxima so don't worry about that.
Anyways Borbets are decent quality wheels so I wouldn't worry about strength with them.

the 18x7.5s are 22 pounds, i'm sorry i still have stock rims on my car which weigh 50 lbs, these rims will shave about 80 pounds off my car, to ME they are light, when i'm as cool as you, maybe they won't be. I know 8.5 is fine for a max(ive seen 9 in front and 10 in back) but whats the diff between 7.5 and 8.5, considering i may hit new england pot holes, anything else i may not think of...
but thanks for answering part of one of my Qs
i get it, they aren't light, now continue

oh, i thought the tires were like 10 lbs lol
I think I heard a bubble pop
so if i got the 18x7.5 which weight 22 i think, then if the tires weight 22 thats 44, I need to weight my wheel to see if that saves anything, my potenzas don't have much tread(43k) so they are lighter than new, don't know by how much. The stock rims are in mid-low 20s? Thats not bad, I didn't know the tires weigh so much though, thanks for the help.

lol, I see how you were thinking they were "light" now. In reality as you've just learned, tires are typically heavier than the wheels they go on. For instance I have one of the lightest performance tires made, Toyo T1-S, 21lbs in 235-40-17, and my 17" wheels weigh about 13lbs.
18" tires are going to be heavier than 22lbs though for sure. Probably looking at an average weight for a 225 or 235, 18" tire being like 26-28lbs.
