Looking for best tire around $100 for Potenza replacement

I need to get my Fiance some new tires for her 03. She still has that POS potenza's and they are getting bald after 37K.

The main thing I am concerned with is good wet traction. Not all tires are created equal but most tires would be good enough, for her, when it comes to dry traction. The current tire is terrible and pretty much unsafe to be driving on in the wet.

Not worried at all about snow or ice.

I just want an all around good tire.

I want the tire to around $100 per.
The two on my list:
1) Yokohoma AVID V4S ($103 tire rack)
2) Kumho ASX ($88 tire rack)

Any opinions? Other reasonable suggestions?

Thanks...

I don't have experience with either of those tires, but I WILL say that I've been happy enough with the performance and wear char. of my Kumho ECSTA Supra 712's. They have exceeded my expectations in every category.
With that said, I am tempted to purchase another set of Kumhos....I am currently contemplating:
Toyo Proxes4's
Pirelli PZeroNero
Kumho SPT/ASX

hope that helps a little.

Did she rotate her tires on a regular basis? I have over 49k miles on my 02 and there is plenty thread left on all four tires. I just bought some Michelin Pilot Sports A/S to replace the Potenzas when I reach 50k miles.

Get the Yoko Avid V4s and you'll be done. My brother has them on his toyota and he is happy with them. They last long enough to be worth the money.
Kumho's are nice too and cheaper, BUT the older they get, the more problems in wet you/she'll have. They don't age very well.

No, but that was my fault. But even when they did have 8000 miles on them, when she first got it, they were still pretty bad in the rain.

I have had Kuhmo 712's and am now on Proxes 4 and I am happy with both of those tires but I don't wanna pay for the Proxes again. I may look to the 712's again b/c they are in my price range.

I bought the Yoko's for my car $98.00 a tire at Town fair tire.
Dry pavement they are ok, they can still break loose pretty easy if you get on the gas a little, but we and snow traction they are excellent. I have been through 3 major snow storms with them, and have never had a problem.
