50 series 18" tires

I looked thru the FAQ and could find nothing about this subject. My 2K Max
is running Progress springs (fairly good drop ) with 235/40/18 tires and no problems at all.

I would like to move to a 235/50/18 tire and it is a full two inches taller. does anyone have this combo and or think there is a problem with this ie: rubbing etc.

Thank's

Bill

yes, you will definitely have problems. Why would you want to move to such a bulky tire anyways?

You might be able to get away with 235/45/18, but not 50 profile, especially on Progress springs...you'll bottom out the wheelwell on every medium bump.

50 series

Thanks Irish for the quick reply. I wanted to soften the harshness of the
40's a little.
But on your recommendation I will go
with a new set of 40 series.

Thanks again,

Bill

trying a different tire could help with ride quality too. Don't know what you're using, but the Toyo Proxes 4 in that size ride pretty good (I use 235/40/18)

doesn't look like you have a low drop like he does, though.

I'm getting Toyo T1R 235/40/18, Had Avon 235/40/18 ZZ1.

Just to let you know, the T1R is no all-season tire, and sucks in the rain from what I've heard. Alot of guys use them for autocross, but don't know anyone who uses them for the street.

Here is what is being said about this tire

"Description:
The new Proxes T1R™ combines innovative Toyo T-Mode™ technology with knowledge gained from Toyo's participation in motorsports. Innovation through competition is the Toyo philosophy. That translates into building a tire with optimum balance in construction and compounding to deliver the exceptional wet and dry performance you expect for many different driving conditions. The Proxes T1R is available in 14" to 21" rim sizes and sports UTQG ratings of 280 AA A."

What do you or anyone else think? My other choice's are Proxes 4 and Bridgstone Potenza RE750. I can change my purchase by tomorrow, so guys help me out.

Thanks a lot for everything.

Bill
