G35 rims a bit heavy? feedback after driving a few hundred miles

I like the look and all but the rims seem to make the car a little heavy. In all areas of the power band the car seems to be using more energy to get the car rolling. Not a crazy difference but definitely noticeable. I remember thes rims weighing 24 lbs which is not much more than stock 17's. I dont know if its because of the tires or maybe its the change in weather but car feels a little sluggish. No codes, revs, idles fine, shows no signs of a problem. Just wondering if others have seen similarity when adding these rims to their setup. I'm rocking yokohoma ES 100 summer tires with stock G35 dimensions.

Well one, the weights and such have been discussed in the wheel/tire forum. If you want to know the weight of your tire, just go to tirerack or yokohama and research it. You can always weigh one for reference.

Hi,

I just recently put on G35c 18" wheels with AVS ES100s too.
I have a 4th gen SE so I'm coming from the 19lbs oem wheels and lighter tires too.
I agree with you about the sluggish feeling.
It does feel like it takes a little more to get going and a little more to stop too.

The stock SE 17's weigh more than the G35 18's...

17's: 26-27lbs
18's: 23-24lbs

well for one, are your tires WIDER then originals? Cause thats what i noticed when switching from 215/55/16s to 235/45/17s. First few days i had a felling like i'm driving on flat tires

Consider the overall diameter of the tire. If it is larger than the factory original spec, the existing gear ratios will no longer match the larger diameter tire (not optimized). I put huge 31" tires on a 4x4 truck once, and the acceleration was really sluggish/heavy feeling compared to stock.
