Kumho Ecsta SPT vs. Essenza 210 Type Rs
Kumho Ecsta SPT vs. Essenza 210 Type Rs

Anybody have any experience with these tires? I'm finally planning to unload the Dunop Sport FM901s that I've had since I bought these wheels from a friend nearly 2 years ago. Size-wise, I'm going from 215/40/18 to 225/40/18. I only keep my wheels on during the summer months here in L.A., and I read great reviews about these tires from TireRack.com. I'm getting brand new set of four for under $400 (mounting & balancing included), so I figure I'd better jump on this deal while I can afford to make the switch...

The same shop offered these tires as well for $360 (mounting & balancing included). The shop manager told me that these tires were made by Goodyear (although I discovered they're being marketed by a company called SURE Tire Co., which also markets Remington tires as well). I can't find any information on these Essenza 210 Type R tires to compare them to the Kumho's with, but I have considered them as an alternative to the Kumho's because of the price I was offered for them and the availability of the Kumhos (the shop manager is under the impression that the Kumho Ecsta SPT's were being discontinued, which I thought was an odd remark to make).
I've had past dealings with this shop and this manager, and it has always been a positive experience, so I am inclined to trust his advice. If anybody has any information regarding this shop manager's information with regard to the Kumho Ecsta SPTs, or has any information they can share regarding the Essenza tires, I'd appreciate you sharing your experience/information here.
My main concern with a set of new tires is wet/dry traction, wear, responsiveness and a QUIET ride. I switch to the stock wheels & tires during the fall & winter months. I'm obviously leaning toward purchasing the Kumho Ecsta SPTs, but I'm smart enough to ask you guys your opinions since the brothers of the .ORG have never steered me wrong!!!

Thanks for your feedback in advance!
OK guys, I went with the obvious choice and got the Kumhos and it's like night and day! These tires are awesome (although it turned out the shop manager was talking about the 711's, not these being discontinued) and even though they costed about $40 more/tire, it was well worth the investment. I would recommend these tires to anybody looking for a nice, responsive, quiet, sexy & sticky tire! Kumho may have just made a big fan out of me!
