need help with wheels offset and size...

I am planning to purchase a set of wheels from ebay..but i am not too sure if those rims will fit on my 2k1 se. i have 17" stock 6 spoke. but i dont know the offset and bolt pattern etc.......rims that i wanna buy some of those are with universal lugs.
FOR AN EXAMPLE HERE IS WHAT I FOUND ON EBAY WHEELS SPEC:
SIZE: 17 X 7

40 OFF SET 10 HOLES UNIVERSAL 5 LUG

5X100/114.3

what you guys think... the above offset size will fit my 2k1? and whats the diffrenence between the numbers of offsets?
please help me find the right rims for my car///
thanks!

I think a 7" wheel is kind of a waste. I would go 8+ if replacing wheels. I have a 4th gen so fitment may be diff. I would think 7 +40 will sit a little to far under the car.

your stock wheels are 17x7 with a 42 or 45 offset. Lug pattern is 5x114.3 The ebay ones will fit fine, but here's some food for thought:

1. If you're upgrading wheels, go with a wider rim (7.5-8"). Otherwise, it's not much of an upgrade.
2. Consider an offset closer to 30-35, which will bring the wheels out more flush and give it better stance, appearance, and handling. Look at my sig pic...30mm offset.
3. I've never been a fan of 10-lug universal lug patterns for two reasons: 1) it looks stupid and 2) IMO it makes the hub portion of the wheel weaker. Find a good wheel that is a standard 5x114.3 without the universal.

With a 17x8, go with a 35-38 offset or so to avoid any possibly rubbing
With a 17x7.5 go with a 30-35 offset

Make sure to use the correct size tires. 235/45/17 is appropriate with these rims. 225/50/17 will fit too, as will 245/45/17.

As to where to buy....I don't do ebay stores...Go with a reputable seller selling a reputable ("name") brand. I don't know what style you're going for, but check out tirerack and edgeracing.com for some good prices on good quality wheels.......it's worth paying a little bit more for a quality wheel that will not bend easily like alot of fakes will...

which color and style you think will look better on my pearl white se...? as i wouldnt go for universals or heavy rims...the followings are between 17lbs to 18lbs each. there are 23lbs ones but i guess those would be way too heavy.

I'm a big fan of either of the Black Racing wheels - they're similar in appearance to my 5zigen track wheels, but with an extra spoke that makes them look ALOT better.

That Falken Explicit (3rd one) is ugly as hell IMO.

The Fliks are decent looking but I'm no fan of polished lips..

On a white maxima, I really like the bronze Black Racing ones (first ones)....I think those would look really good - plus they are pretty lightweight, which is always important!

holy crap...those Black Racing wheels are a great deal.....perfect offset too in the 17x7.5 35mm offset...

the 17x8 31mm offset would probably fit too and they are an AWESOME price...damn, if they were a bit lighter I'd get them to replace the 5zigens...

Make sure you act fast though, edgeracing sales don't usually last very long!

where are you getting these random brands from? I've never ever heard of koniko.

Stick with known names...SSR, Rays, Volk, Enkei, Kosei, 5Zigen, Falken, etc etc.

Black Racing is not a well-known name, but I know they're good because I've seen several top autocrossers using them...

thanks alot...
i bought a set of chrome wheels from pepboys sevaral months ago there was a sale for $125 each. i used them for a week then returned them due to vibration issue, i had my car checked and one of the wheel was defective/bent which was causing vibration. thats the reason i was looking for a better and decent wheels store online, i believe its easy to return the item if you buy it from local auto stores rather buying something online and if it goes defective then you have to go thru many hassals just to get refund or exhange on your item...so thats why i am being extra considered to buy something online with famous brand and a company that stands behind thier product. i was planning to purchase a set from www.wheelmax.com but since i heard the case about the broken structure that changed my mind on EXEL brand. one thing is also true that you have to pay more to get something better and ever lasting. oh well i like the website that you reffered and will look forward to purchase a set from them once i finished with some of my inquiries on thier products. anyway thanks alot for putting me on right way...i have learned alot by posting my questions here and u have been the great help so far. i hope u wouldnt mind helping me out in future with more questions.
BY THE WAY....I MISUNDERSTOOD THE BRAND AND SAID (KONIKA) ACTUALLY ITS (KONIG) AND ALSO I CHECKED OUT (HOT WHEELS) (VOXX) (RAGE) (MB WHEELS) AND (X6) WHAT DO U SAY ABOUT THESE BRANDS HAVE U EVER HEARD OF THEM? THE FOLLOWING PHOTO ARE "LIQIUDMETAL" AND "VOXX" BRAND ...PLEASE SEE AND COMMENT.

Never heard of Liquidmetal...Voxx I've heard of but know nothing about.. Konig generally makes pretty good wheels.

As to wheelmax....they just seem like an online rice shop, with alot of cheap-o brands, to me..

I mean, on their front page this is the "featured" wheel:

Quality places have "featured wheels" that are well-known brands like SSR, Volk, or the like....not some ricer blingy wheels.

Seriously, stick with companies that are known for their great customer service and high-quality products, like edgeracing and tirerack. That's my suggestion.

Or, if you want to know what wheels are good quality, go look at what the guys in the autocross section are running - people who race tend to buy good quality, strong wheels...
