Help me choose tires

I need tires and dont really think its reasonable to spend $226 (as quoted at costco) for each tire. It cost me $240 to put on 4 Dunlops on my maxima when i had the 15" wheels. Granted my lexus uses 17" wheels, but it shouldnt be 4X more.

Im looking for 4 tires in the size 235/50/17 for $100 each or less...
I currently came up with two choices, help me choose which is better or suggest something that fits the criteria.

Continental ContiTouringContact A/S
80k Warranty, S rated, $78 Shipped each

Falken Ziex 512 A/S
30k Warranty, W rated, $94 Shipped each

Like I said, let me know which is better and if you have another additioin please let me know.

I believe tirerack.com has the Continentals on special right now.

But based on the rating for those, I would definitely look at something different.

If you want to spend $100 each get NEXEN 3000 tires, Im getting them because they have rave reviews and, as you see, are very cheap. This is in 245/45/18 size too. My current F1s are to the wearbars and this is what im getting on the new rims.

I have a friend who works f/t at a wheel & tire shop and he had 18" Nexen 3000 tires on his 3rd gen & he loved them. He eventually sold them for higher end tires, but he said they were excellent tires for the price.

Ive never read a bad review on the Nexens, ive actually read people comparing them to pilot sports and other extremely expensive tires. Also read they are extremely good at resisting hydroplaning. With the price, sounds good enough for me.

shouldnt be no problem if your maxima is droped otherwise you will end up having extra gap beween fender and tire. 235/50/17 can work fine on stock wheels.

falkens for $94 shipped each is good deal on good tires. let me know where are you getting them for this price.
you could save extra bucks if you decide to go with 225 instead 235. as much as i know there is not a big diffrence between 225 & 235 unless you wanna go with 245.

235/50/17 is for some reason the most expensive tire size in that range, everything else is cheaper and has more choices, some are much cheaper.

When i say range, i mean 225-245/45-55/17

you said falkens have 30k warranty on them and Continental comes with 80k
if you are buying at online go for falkens if you are buying at your local auto shop then get Continental with 80k warranty. because most of the auto stores do give credit for those mileage that are not obtained by tires. for an example if you buy Continental with 80k warranty and they only last you till 50k you will get the credit of 30k mileage for your next tire purchase from same vendor. Falkens are good tires (made in japan) they will last you less longer but will perform better than Continentals. the best inexpensive tires out there are kumho's ASX (Z) rated they run around $105 a piece i bought a set of 4 from pepboys got 10k on them already and they still look new and performing great in rain and snow.
so the choice is yours!
