your thoughts on new wheels

It's time for me to get new wheels and tire. I got some spending money and it was either between new custom sound system or some wheels.

I been looking to get 18x7.5 rims with the Toyo FZ4.

My first choice was Racing Hart Evolution C5.

I went to a shop here in houston, but they did not have it.
After searching a few shops, I was told that it was discontinue.

One shop try to sell me a set of Sport Max Racing 962 with Toyo Tires for 1.5k if I left my stock wheels.

But it seemed kinda steep price for the whole thing.

Another wheel that caught my eye was the Enkei RC5, but when I called I was told they don't make the bolt patter for our cars.

I really liked the Enkei design and it only weighted 18lbs.

What other wheels would you guys recommend, I'm gona look at some Volk/ Rays.

If you like the classic 5-spoke design so much, why don't you look at Enkei Evo5 or 5Zigen wheels?

Enkei Evo5

I think the RH evolution looks nice. I ahve some 5-spoke 5zigen fno1r-c's as my track wheels and I personally think they're kind of ugly (but they're LIGHT, and that's what I care about at the track).

I'd also suggest going with an 18x8 width rim, with a 35mm offset or so. gives it a much more "flush" look than a stock offset.

As to the tires, don't get the FZ4....it's a crap tire IMO. IIRC the Proxes4 replaced it and is a superior all-season tire.

I looked at the 5Zigen GN+ Proracer it looks nice overall, but its a bit heavier than the Enkie. The GN+ weights 22.7lbs.

The Problem with the Axis Reverb is that they come in black or bronze. Looks nice tho.

I was looking at the Enkei RP03 and liked it and its only about 20lbs.

I think they look better in 18" size...They're nice looking wheels, but in 17's they look REALLY small because of the spoke/lip design.

I do, however, love the way they look in 18" size on alot of STi's and WRX's I see with them....

My friend has the sport max rims and they are nice IMO. I put the 17x9 on my car to test out and the lip was nice. You can get those for cheaper than $1500 with tires.

Well I decided to get 18 x 7.5 Enkei Evo5 Hyper Silver (they do come in silver ) with the Toyo Proxes 4 235/40/18.

I got a way better deal on the sport max with toyo tire since it came a package deal. The shop I went to first wanted 2k if I did not leave my stock wheels. I felt like it was a ripped off. But I liked the Enkei better and got a nice deal too.

Now I just need to get Matt's front and rear Big Break Kit.

Glad you finally went with my recommendation. LOL.

Which one is the sport max rims people have been talking about?

So you traded in your stock wheels for the Enkei + money?

They come in anthracite too. I have a sterling mist '99 and will be going with these wheels when the time comes.
