Baby,

I have an '05' SL. I have the OEM Continentals. Not exactly sure what size, other than 17". Nissan's label suggest I run 35psi. I go according to the tire manufacturer. It says to fill to 44psi cold MAX. I run about 40 cold. I do this (and argue with Goodyear over it), because when I run 35psi, I eat up side walls and it looks like I'm running around flat! I end up replacing tires every 15-20k miles.

Goodyear will argue that Nissan knows whats best for my car. IMO, so does the tire manufacturer, and until Nissan includes tires as part of their 60k mile warranty, I have to pay for tires and I am not willing to run on 35psi. Not only is it bad for my sidewalls, it is not so good on my mpg also, or my wallet!

You'll need to keep more air than the door sill label suggests. I would say between 35-40 psi depending on your ride preference. Folks with low profile tires need to be extra careful because if they go to low they risk rim damage. Tire pressure depends on the tire, not the car. Car manufacturers recommendations are based on ride comfort, not tire longevity or MPG. Goodyears' argument doesn't hold water - how would Nissan know which brand and type of tire you'll use after the original set wear out. Tell them to F' off. I buy from Discount Tire and they don't give me any sheit.
