Spacers

Which spacers would make my rear wheels most flush with the body without rubbing issues? I have SSR-C 18X8.5 with 42mm offset running on 255/40/18 tires.

10mm or 5mm?

I would say 10mm but the only issue w/ 10mm spacer is that you would have to get longer studs which means more work.

5 will be totally fine. In fact, I'm pretty sure that 10mm will cause the wheels to stick out. I know that 8" wide rims with 35mm offset sit flush with the front fender. Your 8.5" wide rims with 42mm offset and 10mm spacers will be approx 9mm further out.

I'm actually looking for a 20" 245/35/20 tire. I live in San Diego and mostly need great traction and good tread wear. Been considering the Kumho ECSTA SPT, Nexen N3000, Sumitomo HTR ZII, and NITTO 555. What do you guys suggest?
