tire pressure listed on the sidewall, question?

I am just wondering...is the tire pressure listed on the sidewall of tires the COLD rating or the HOT rating? in other words, lets say the psi listed on my sidewall is 51....is that the maximum safe psi when the tire is cold or when it's hot? thanks in advanced

That's a very good question... I would assume it's the max cold PSI, since everywhere you read about tire pressure they say to add and measure when cold.

yeah I am assuming that too....so if my sidewall psi is 51....then my overall maximum safe psi (whether hot or cold) would be like 54 then?

I sell wheels and tires (and performance parts) for a huge company on the west coast. That is the maximum tire pressure for the tire when it is cold, and also for setting the beeds. That dosent mean that is the tire pressure you should run, if you run 51psi in the tires on your max you will wear out the centers. The best pressure for around town driving I have found out from personal experience is 40psi you get a nice even wear and less cupping. Also always remember to check your tire pressure every 30 days or if there is a extreme drop in the temp outside.

I'm pretty sure he has some kind of special search engine on his computer that alerts him to any thread that mentions the Falken 512s

I haven't driven it since that test...as for my wife, she doesn't really care much since her commute is fairly short. She has neither complained about nor praised them. To her they're just tires....

or, if you were asking about the car in general...

aside from the tires, the handling is excellent. Why Nissan can't design great suspensions like Mazda does is beyond me....
