Same Tire Width on Staggered Rims

I just got a set of new staggered rims that are 8 and 8.5 inches wide. I already have a set of 4 tires that are 235/45R18 and wanted to reuse them on these rims. I know that they would fit fine on both rims as far the width goes, but would it look bad and would the rear sit lower due to wider rim with same size tire as the front? Anyone with experience or similar set up please help Thanks...

I can't tell you for sure, but you can check the tire mfg's web site to see if they list size specs for specific sizes on particular widths.

I did and the tires can handle up to 9" width no prob... I guess it would be OK then?

If it helps any, I have 235/45/17 tires on both 7.5" and 8" wide staggered and it looks/rides/handles just fine.

Quick update, I ended up putting the tires on rims but 235s just looked too small on 8.5" rear rims, funny almost and there was not much protection on the rim edges so I decided to put on 255s instead... 235s look fine on 8" fronts... I will post some pics with new rims as soon as the weather gets nicer and I take off my winter boots

I have 235/45/17 on a staggered setup and I don't have any probs at all. I have G35 coupe 17's 17x7.5 and 17x8.

If the offset and tire size are same then it would not differ much from similar width and tire size combo. Staggered with different sized tires and/or offset mostly comes into play during emergency or extreme maneuvers.

I had 7.5" wide rims before with 235 tires and they looked and behaved well. With this new rim set up, it was more of a case that 235 mm wide tire on 216 mm (8.5") wide rim looked weird and narrow, almost as if the thread was narrower than the rim itself. There was almost no sidewall left to protect the rim...

Yeah I'd say you made a good call moving up to a larger tire in the rear. A 245 may have been enough, but if they look good with the 255s it won't make a whole lot of difference either way.
