Quick question

Would a 245/45/18 tire fit on a rim that is recommends a 235/40/18? I would assume yes, but would there be any negatives about it accept for the sidewall being a little softer?

I ask because I am looking on purchasing the NISMO wheels from the wheels/tires section and they are 18x8.5, when my stock wheels are 18x7.5 and I just bought a new set of tires about a few months ago, so I do not want the tires to go to waste.

thanks
dan

You'll be fine, I just ordered some nismo rims and am getting 245/45/18. 235/40/18 is actually a little to small for a Maxima, better off going 255/40/18 if you want a wider foot print and lower profile. If you undersize to much it can effect braking performance, not to mention your speedo will be way off.

On a side note, how do you like your Falken 452's? I'm debating between those and some Avon M500's.

I run 255/45-18 on my 8.5" wide wheels and couldn't be happier. I almost got a little crazy and went w/ 275/40 all around. I like the big footprint up front on Max- makes for better launches. I'm also happy w/improved handling from the 1" wider-than-stock rim (also shed 5 lbs.per wheel).
Enough about me...I know the Nismo's ur talking about, Dan- I say def get them- seem like a good deal for a quality, lightweight wheel and also no worries w/the 245's- they'll be perfect...Lower unsprung weight FTW-lol.

SWEET, so they would fit, but then the only downside would be that I would not be able to take full advantage of the 1'' wider wheel but oh well, I'll deal with it instead of getting rid of these and spending more time and money on different tires.

The FK-452 SUCK in any depth snow/ice. As for rain I haven't been able to try them out in dry warm weather because I just got them about a month or two ago, so it's still quite cold and they are "summer tires," which makes them act as rocks in this freezing temperature!

don't worry- only a few more weeks of these crazy temps. come April, you'll be loving the falkens.

oh, and (not like u don't know this already)if u do get the nismos, hang on to your stock wheels and get some dedicated snows. that's the best of both worlds. it's pretty cool having an 18" wheel&snow tire combo to throw on when it gets frigid.

EXACTLY why i'm searching for "summer" wheels as well!!! The funny thing is that my dad was the one suggesting the idea...maybe it's the fact that when it snows my car stays in... lol

Oh and would you think that those wheels would look "odd" being on a 6th gen and going from a 6 spoke to a 5 spoke, also would it be too "wide" that it would stick out of the sides?

I actually like 5 spokes even on 6gen.
As long as the offsET is @35-38 you'll be good. They'll be almost flush w/fenders, though still in slightly. They'll stick out probably 1/2" more than they do now. I like the more aggressive stance- MAKES IT LOOK MEAN.

Do you know the offset on those NISMOs? And are those the NISMOs that are meant for the Altima?

ck this out- http://www.worldcarfans.com/tuners.c...a-r-and-s-tune

here are plenty of pics, and yes, they are meant for the Altima. Unfortunately, I think the ET is 45. Maybe they come in more than 1 offset though- I'll check it out and get back 2u.
I do know that they only weigh 17.6 lbs. You also might want to ck out Enkei's OR-52's- look very similar and edgeracing is practically giving them away...just add the NISMO sticker.

The enkei's are heavier and in my opinion don't look as nice. Nismo rims are also cold forged, enkei's are just cast.

ya, I thought they were for the Altima. And what does ET45 mean? Is that the offset...? If so then is that too much or too little? Sorry, I don't really know what off-set means too well

Those look amazing on the Altima, but i'm wondering if they would look taht good on the Max... lol

ET is a way to interpret offset. Bigger the offset the more the rim will sit inside the wheel wheel

yellow=fender
red=wheel
if you were looking behind the car

.....|
|...|
45 offset^

.....|
.|...|
38 offset^

Once again....will the NISMO being 1'' wider than stock, will it make the current 245/45/18 tire that I have look a little ?

It depends, I've decided to go with 452's and have researched them alot. The measured rim width is 8 inches and it can go up to 9. The tread width is 8.5 inches so it will fill the rim and have a aggressive stance. I'm going to Sears tomorrow to actually measure the tire by hand before picking up my rims on Tuesday.
