Do i need spacers for an 18x8 wheel with a 40mm offset? If so what would be a good size spacer?

 

You don't need them but, for the rear end, it makes it look better. I would go with 15mm but some will say 20mm its your choice. H&R is the way to go BTW.

Definitely get 15mm H&R spacers at the rear. It makes a big difference.
My set up is 19x8.5" rims with 245/35/19 tires and S-techs along with 15mm H&R spacers at the rear.

 

wouldn't getting 30 offset rims defeat the prupose of having spacers?

or is better to get 40 offset wheels and spacers? 18 x8 rim BTW

 

either way would work but it's cheaper to accomodate to wheels than to spacers, so a lot of people get the spacers

 

getting a 30mm offset instead of a 40mm offset would be the same as using a 10mm spacer with the 40mm offset wheel. IMO, if you want your track width to be a little wider and the prices b/w the 2 different wheel offsets are the same, get the 30mm offset and eliminate using extra parts for the same look. I'd say less parts are "better".

 

Uhhh, keep in mind the size of spacer than a person can run will ALL depend on several different factors:

- suspension height
- wheel width
- offset
- tire size

So 15mm spacers might work for him, or might not.

I know that G35 wheels, which are pretty flush in the rear stock, are 18x8 30mm offset. If you figure the tire size is the same between that wheel and the 18x8 40mm offset wheel, then 10mm would make it pretty flush. 15mm will bring it out 5mm further.

 

dont forget to make sure it comes with longer studs.

 

18x8 +40 offset w/ a 15mm spacer works on a Progress drop in the rear.

 

so will it damage my car if i were to go with 30 offset? if it does then im better off going 40 and putting spacers? somebody help I need to buy tires and want to get rims along with it!!!
