Nexen N7000 - Preliminary thoughts
Because of a tight budget and what seems to be a cult following of the N3000, I tracked down a set of Nexen N7000's. Call it my sacrifice for the .org. They were ordered from Tire Deals 4 Less. I have a little over a thousand miles, and they've been on a trip from Atlanta to Charlotte (~250 miles). First my prejudices:
-Last set were Proxes4 in 235/45-17. I was set on getting them in 225/50, but for the price figured I'd try the Nexens.
-Had the falken 512's before Proxes and will never buy again. Had HTR+ before falkens and LOVED them (would buy again if it didn't seem like production quality was hit or miss).
The good:
-They're comfortable riding. Feel a little smoother than the Proxes did. Riding up and down 85 definitely felt quite comfortable. Cruising between 85-100 felt surprisingly good for the most part...not harsh at all.
-Relatively quiet.
The bad:
-At times they feel vague...almost like I'm floating. Definitely don't give the same feel of the road like the Proxes or HTR+.
-Took a sweeping off-ramp today at 40mph and it felt like the tire was about to roll over the sidewall. Not too confidence inspiring. I'm sure it's partially due to the 235 width on my stock rims.
-Quick turns of the wheel also feel kinda vague at times. When I figure out the words to best explain, I'll add more.
I haven't had them in the rain yet, but I look forward to it. So far, it feels like for what I do, they'll be fine. They're all season, but would i add UHP? Not yet. The comments look negative and like they suck, but you know we tend to remember the bad stuff and overlook the good. Making the GA-NC trip again tomorrow....will pay closer attention and will add to this as they wear on. Post your questions, as I'm sure that there's a lot that i didn't think about.

Excellent review. I have a set of 235/45/17's Nexen N3000's on my dads 97SE and I find that under sharp turns, the tire also feels like it is sliding off the rim. Similar to how you explained it. Besides that they are very smooth, quiet, good in rain, and seem to wear well.

I know this post is very late, but I have a set of Nexen N7000 on my O4 Max. They ride pretty well, very quiet. I have gone through a big snow storm driving back to PA from Canada I had good grip in about 2-3 inches of snow. They also handle very well on wet and dry roads. I have put about 700 miles or so on them and I am pleased.

After reading this thread and seeing positive feedbacks, I think I might give Nexen N7000 a try.

57K on Nexen N7000
Just coming to the end of the life of my first set of Nexen N7000 on my 04 MaxSE stock rims [245-45-18].
For those considering these tires, I'd buy another set in a heartbeat. These cost about $100 per tire and I had them installed at the Nissan dealer. I've never had them rebalanced and they wore almost perfectly even. Very good passenger tire with great traction wet and dry. Not great in snow, but this is a UHP tire.
The ride is good at the right pressure (32-34psi). After that the ride becomes harsh considering this is an XL tire. I put expressway miles on my car and it's a quiet tire. The tires are much louder now, but they're approaching the wear bars [UTQG 360]. Even at 57K they're still great in the Chicago winter wet. No hydroplaning. I'll dig into a wet off-ramp and they still stick.
Looking at a Continental ExtremeContact DWS for my next set, but if you're looking for a solid all season tire at a rock bottom price I'd recommend the N7000.
