can't seem to get this in my head
I'm looking to get some 18 inch rims. The width varies 8 all the way up to 10 inches. I'm having trouble getting my hear around the offset for some reason. THis is going on the '96 infiniti, KYB GR-2 with Eibach Springs. On top of that I am wanting a good amount of tire i'm looking for 18x9. I can go smaller but would prefer that. Rolling the fender some is fine. So if i go 18x9..what would be the ideal offset? I guess also what would it be for 18x8 ot 18x9.5. As i said I don't know why but i seem to be having trouble rolling all the tire dimension data up into usable information...and yes i've researched! Anyone that could shed some light on this?
18 x 9 all around, don't stagger, +35-40 offset all around, roll your rear fenders, and a 10-15mm spacer in the rear...255/40s all around, or 245s if your scared of rubbing
BTW ideal would be ~+38

Thx for the info. So 18x9 would be the widest you really want to go? based on what exactly? Width of the wheel well?
so busting out the math...looking at 255/40...that's going to give a good amount of sidewall about 4 inches, which is less than what i have now but should be fine. Not looking for super low profile tires is what i want to make for a bit better ride and maybe save my rim from an unavoidable pothole. As for the rim, I have a few in mind and you'll have to wait till after I've bought em

Why run a spacer when you can go wider and have deeper lip?

To the OP, you can fit larger, but thats the most painless size you can fit on an A32 while still having a healthy amount of meat. Depending on drop, no negative camber will be needed in the front, and only a roll in the rear to fit the spacers...
Edit: Just realized you were on eibachs, a roll in the rear and spaced to fit and you should be golden...

sooooo...18x10 is possible..while dropped....so overall what issues do you run into when the tires are too wide...NOT including rubbing, that can be taken care of. It seems when the offset..is too far off you run into tire wear problems, wheel bearing problems and other stuff. 18x10 would be nice but I don't know of anyone running them so i'm hesitant to go that wide and then find out later it was a rather expensive mistake

You won't get tire wear problems with a bad offset, you get it when you run negative camber to fit wide *** tires, If your alignment is up to par a small amount of negative camber won't be too bad. Toe in/out will cause more problems down the road...
But anyways, yes I was reffering to the 18 x 9 +35, 18 x 10 CAN work, but you will need a pull/flare, especially in the front, and pretty stretched tires, 255s or even 245s which is pretty conservative, some take it to an extreme...

Not a max, but you get the picture, 9.5j front, 10.5j rear, 225/35 front and 225/40 rear...

ahhh, ok, i'm following what you're saying. I think i'll just stick with the 18x9 which comes in a 35 offset. Probably best since the car may be dropped further at some point as well. Thanks much for the help!

Not really sure. I actually quite like them, but i don't see myself holding on to them really. They would make great drag wheels...but useless since i'll be upgrading the brakes. So i might just be selling them if i don't put them on the maxima, which is unlikely.

Should be able to see pics here. theyre 15x7.5 pretty lightweight. I'm not 100% certain on the rims yet..i'm about 95% decided. They should look pretty decent though...
A 9" +35 wheel will stick out in the front. You are going to have to pull the fender if you want to cover a 9 +35 in the front. A 9" +35 is very flush in the rear, minor tire rub with out a roll at full compression. Lots of neg camber and a streched tire help... kinda defeats reason for having a wide wheel.

That's all it sticks out? That doesn't nother me at all really. Stretched tire definitely a no-no for me. Who knows at some point might do something about the fenders, but that minor bulge won't bother me in the least. Thanks much for those pics!
