Chrome to Painted

Has anyone here ever converted their chrome plated wheels to paint?
The reason I ask is bc a couple of my wheels are suffering from "chrome peel" and I don't want to pay all that money to have them re-chromed. Any advice? They are the oem 5th gen 18's by the way.

you can have them stripped, from there i would go powder coated rather than painted. they also have a chrome powder coat which would be cheaper but keep the chrome look. all the ones i've seen look a little milky though.

How long do you think the shop will have to keep the wheels for?
