Just ordered some tires.. Good ? bad ?

I just ordered a set of 4 Khumo ECSTA ASX 225/55R-16 95W BSW All the specs were in the range i was looking for.. now this is going on the Stock SE 16" rim. I know i should have asked before i bought them but i was kind of rushed into the purchase, my tires are worn out to the point where their almost slicks so i had to get new tires asap. I ordered them from discount tire.

kumhos are notorious for poor durability.
review after review has people complaining that they wore out in under 10k.

Really? I've had ASX on my 2000 max for the last 37k miles and they still have another 15k or so left in them. I had them on my boosted 240 for 7k+ miles and they still looked brand new. :stfu:

i been on discounttiredirect.com over the past week scouting all 215/225-55-16 and 215-50-17 tires in the 80-120 dollar range.

poor durability is a common complaint in the customer reviews for the Kumho tires that ive been looking at.

maybe u got the good ones

I have yet to be disappointed in a set of Kumho tires. I have had HP716s on my old Tercel (daily beater) they worked great for the type of tire they were, no issues. I had a set of ecsta 711s on the Maxima, great bang for the buck in budget performance tires. I had a set of ecsta MXs on my Z32, they won a regional ESP (autoX) championship and lasted a season and a half (about 20 track/autoX events + around 3,000 street miles). I just won another championship on Kumho V700 Victoracers, they made 10 autoXs and 2 track days.

I would not hesitate in buying again from Kumho or recommending them to others.

Thanx for the feedback... So far I've had these tires for about a week or so now and i absolutely love them, their much quieter than my potenzas were, sharp corners are now a walk in the park. Plus with a 225 the car just looks a WHOLE lot different and i love it.

Although, the morons at Wal-mart apparently don't know how to read nowadays. The idiots mounted my psngr front tire, upside down, or backwards oh well at least they'll remount it for free just gotta go there sometime soon.

I have the summer version of the ASX, the SPT. It's great, I'm 50% through with them. However, the 712 I had before got very slippery and loud towards the end of life. My brother has the ASX on his 5th gen and loves them, he's getting a lotta miles on them, they wear very very well (so does my SPT).

Kumho tires are for daily driving use. It wears out fast and the road noise is pretty loud.

I am looking to purchase new tires soon and briefly considered the Kohmo ECSTA ASX. I think it depends how much you like you Maxima and how much you want to spend. The Kohmos about $80 each are probably good tires for the price but you can't expect the performance or reliability that you would get from tires that cost more. It apears that if you are willing to spend another $20 to $40 more per tire you can get something coinsiderably better such as Bridgestones or Yokohamas. after much reasearch I have decided on the Yokohama ADVIN VS4 or or ADVAN S.4. I guess it comes down to how important the tires are to you, how long you plan to keep the Maxima and how much you want to spend. I think the 225's will fit your stock rims no problem.

I'm sure the Kumho's are good and reliable tires. I'm not knocking them. If you have a set and are happy with them that is a good thing. It's just that you usually get what you pay for.

Bridgestone, Yokohama and the other tire manufacturers all have tires at different price points. Their $130 tires are probably better than their $80 tires.
