Pick My 5.5 Gen Wheels

I have to admit, the 5th gen Maxima's are extremely hard to match good looking wheels to. I have narrowed my search down to these, but nothing is set in stone. I'm kind of skeptical able the Nexos due to their price, but other than that, the rest are pretty fair game. What do you guys think? They'll be going on a Sunlit Sand SE on Illuminas and H-techs.

1.) Nexo TS-8

2.) Sportmax 962

3.) Sportmax 006

4.) Kazera KZ-A

5.) Tenzo Type-M

IMO go with last two choices...i voted the Tenzo DC-6 due to your color. but the D2 DTR2 would be nice maybe in a nother color.

There are some nice looking wheels in there. Since this is the tire/wheel specific forum, I'm going to ask specific tire & wheel questions.

What size are they? (diameter/width)?
What are their offsets?
What size tire do you have in store for them?
And lastly, but IMO, most importantly, how much do they weigh?

Don't go with the Type M. I had that picked out a month ago when I heard they were coming out. They won't be out till March. I want to be the first with them.

Wheel Information:

Nexo TS-8
Weight: Undisclosed
Dimensions: 18 x 7.5
Offset: 42mm

Sportmax 962
Weight: 32lbs (according to sportmax's site)
Dimensions: 18 x 8.5
Offset: 35mm

Sportmax 006
Weight: 29lbs (according to sportmax's site)
Dimensions: 18 x 8.5
Offset: 35mm

Kazera KZ-A
Weight: 21.2lbs
Dimensions: 18 x 8.5
Offset: I believe 45mm

Tenzo Type M
Weight: 22lbs (from what I've read)
Dimensions: 18 x 8
Offset: 45mm

D2 DTR-2
*Can't find information, if anyone can, it'd be helpful!*

Tenzo DC-6
Weight: 22lbs (from what I've read)
Dimensions: 18 x 8
Offset: 35mm or 45mm

right now, it looks like the three top contenders are the DC6's, the Type M's (Sorry deckdout2 ) and the Kazera's. They seem to be the lightest and most well matched for the Maxima.

I'm planning on going with 245/40/18's...the tire type is unkown as of right now. I've heard people are far more succesfull at finding 235's...but I think that wider stance would look cleaner on given the Maxima's body. We'll see.

Best price I've seen after searching for a few weeks was www.wheelsnext.com. Buy the tires elsewhere though, just get the wheels from them.

Anything over 22 lbs for an 18" would not be a choice.

This just became yet another option that's looking like a potential winner. I know a guy at discount too, so I should be able to get a discount.

What do you guys think? They remind me of Volk's TE37s.

Rightfully so, however, I was appealing to the aesthetic nature.

Yeah. They're due out this month. I'm stuck between these and the MB Motoring weapons. MB's are about $40 cheaper...

Yeah, the DTR2's remind me of Axis Hiro's...which I wouldn't mind either but too pricey for me.

I'm thinking the Tenzo Type-M's because they're a relatively reputable wheel, they're unique, they fit the Max's body QUITE well, and I can find them for an alright price....

Those Type-M's are gorgeous! Nice weight too. I may be a tiny bit ricer, but I like the flat black w/ red lip version.

Well. I've made my decision. It's going to be the Tenzo Type-M's. Probably won't be ordering them till the end of the month, as the bday's coming up and bdays = money. I'm very excited.
Deckdout2, have you ordered yours yet?

I have not, and I think that you'll be the 1st with them on here. Let me tell you a little about them 1st before you order and what swayed my decision in getting them. (No, I'm not going to pick them up anymore and going a different route with another set that I did just buy last week. Going to pick them up from Fedex at noon today.)

In the pictures that are hosting these wheels on any site you find them on, they are a little misleading. The pictures make these wheels more gorgeous then they actually will be with the size that you will have to get in order for it to fit our cars. It was verified on other boards that Tenzo stated the pictures are in fact of the 10 inch wide wheels and they are also the 19 or 20 in offset. So the extreme "concave" look in the center is dramatic, and with the size you would need to work for our cars (19 x 8.5 wide at most and 45 offset or 37/45 offset with 18 x 8) you would not get as much of a concave at all. In fact it would actually be minimal. There's a Mazda guy that got a set of the Time Attack (Black/Red Lip) looking ones in an 18" x 8" and a 45 offset, and they looked horrible.

However, I found a pic with these, but I'm sure they're a 20 offset and they look pretty good on this ride.

I'm not in anyway trying to deter you from getting them, I have no reason to since I'm not getting them anymore. I would just hate for you to pick them up and not like them and with our odd size, possible have a hard time returning or reselling them. If I were you I'd wait just a little bit longer and try to locate the pictures of the actual wheels on other cars as close to the sizes that you are going to get. Just to make sure you really like them or not.

None the less, yes if you had a 350z/G35/WRX/STI the offset and the size you would use would probably look similar to the hosted pictures and they would look great.

Just a heads up and some things to consider from my research and good luck with them. I really hope they are work out really good for you if you pick them up.

lol yeah the only "insane" sizing for it... no 18s in wider sizing/lower offsets FTL. these wheels are specifically made for the 350z/G35 application interestingly enough so getting other sizing wont happen unless they change the specs later down the road. i cant wait for these suckers to get in. ill definitely have to test fit em first but im sure with the +17 front and +22 rears it should be okay with what ive already done with fender modifications.
slappin on stretched tires too 245's or 255's on 10s. this car is gonna be back in status... rolling on stock sawblades = fail.

Well I was browsing some Mazda and SRT4 forums, and it looks like a couple guys have already ordered these. There was pictures of 17" I believe w/ a 45mm offset, and the concave was almost not there (FTL). But, it looks like the 18's are coming with a 30 and 37mm offset, so maybe the diameter and offset will help with the concave. I'm thinking about waiting a couple weeks just so I can see what they look like on other cars, since NO ONE has them installed yet. In fact, I'm going to browse those forums right now and see if either of those guys have installed them. I'll be back...

Some pictures of I believe the +45mm offsets and some good info.

http://www.srtforums.com/forums/f314...ilable-427401/

Here are 18 x 8's w/ 45mm offset. This really shows the lack of concavity due to offset.

on an 8" wide with a 45 or even a 35et the concave faces are going to be near nonexistant. lower offsets such as less than +30 will have that look. but when you get into wider wheels, its another story. so all of you considering the Type M in the 18x8 sizing with the 37 or 45 offsets, youre NOT going to get that concave face that looks like the picture. like was mentioned earlier, that picture is for the 10" wide wheel. decieving isnt it.

Yeah, as the pictures show (of the Type M's), the concavity is virtually not there on the 18 x 8's. Deceptive indeed. I was viewing other Tenzo's also on members rides, and it seems to be an issue with all their wheels. Tenzo makes the wheels look better than what they appear as in person, which is unfortunate. Some good news is that I found out the R2 DTR-2 wheels are offered in a graphite color and I didn't think they had been, so these just might be my new wheel of pursuit, unless they seem to be visually deceptive as well for some reason...

The exact reason I decided against these wheels. I don't have as big of ***** as Mr****s, or possibly just don't want to go to the same extreme. Either way you'll never know.

you know they do have the 18x8 +25 option. that would be nice and flush perhaps requiring a 5mm spacer in the rear. people are too chicken **** to run lower than +35et, even on an 8 wide. no offense to you guys but maximas can run some nice sizing considering its a fwd layout.

That'd be perfect if I wanted to run 18's, but I would have gotten them in 19 x 8.5's. Much more would have preferred the 19 x 10's.
