Ok so this is just for future reference, for my wheel and tire combo. I'm not sure if any of you recall the BFGoodrich g-Force tire ads, they'd run on the car mags. But the most common one I'd saw was either the BLUE Nissan Skyline or the Orange 350z and they where marketing the G-Force tires. With that said, the look/setup that I'm striving for is to be similar as far as tire/wheels are in that ad. I want my rims/tires to look almost similar to the setup they have pictured in the ad. I'm not looking for low pros, super skinny tires or anything fancy. I like the look the rims have with the tire girth pictured in the ad, and I want something similar to my max. But I'm running the following rims...

My setup, or my goal is to run:

5Zigen's FN01R-C

17 X 8 or 17 X 8.5 Front
17 X 8.5 or 17 X 9 Rear

unless you guys recommend a different setup. I'm not very knowledgeable guy when it comes to tires/rims. I dont even know our maxima bolt pattern (ok, well I know its a 5lug). I do want a small staggered look (dont ask me why, I just do), and I do want my rims to run flush with the fenders.

What kinda of tires do you recommened in order to achieve that look that BFGoodrich has on there car ads (once again the one that has the BLUE NISSAN SKYLINE and the ORANGE 350z)? They would be use on a daily driven car, with occasional street races. My main concern is that all the tire numbers I get on websites confuse me, I'm hoenstly dont know what to make of them, I just want to know what are some good tires that would go with my rims, as for as achieving the same look as seen in the ad.

I doubt I would have any clearence issue's with the Z32 brake calipers correct? Would I need anything else to achieve the look i'm going for?
Spacers?, Offset?, etc...

Bare with me... I'm asking you all's opinion, before I go deeper into this subject. Thanks

odd request...

but to answer your question:
the wheels on that 350z are Nismo LMGT4's. 17x8 17x9 staggered setup. offsets probably in the low +30s. tire sizes compared with the Maxima are different as the 350z sidewalls are a tad higher. recommended sizing for the Maxima on a 17x9 would be a 255/40; if you want it nice and meaty probably bubble on a 265/40 on there. Tire choices depend on local weather, treadlife, performance, price, quality, etc. goto www.tirerack.com and pick your type. that will give you a good idea of what youre looking for.
heres some help:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/tiretech.jsp
http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/tech/index.jsp

as far as Z32 BBK clearance, a high offset in the front such as +40 will probably be okay as the spoke design "pokes" out. if anything just slap on a 5 or 10mm spacer accordingly. for the rears youd want a low offset probably in the mid +20s if you want it to sit flush without spacers. youre call.

I want a similar look... but your correct I want a meaty tires to go with the rims.. I dont really want HUGE rims, nor some stock 16's. A little bit of compromise.

What is the widest the rims can be without getting tire rub??

Augh... staggered... vaginatown...

Widest you can go in the rear without gaydm mad tyte tire stretching is about 10", front you should keep it to 9" or less.

YOU'RE a gaydm vaginatown... that was a lame *** comeback.

just to add, if you go with 9s front and 10s rear +25et all around would be perfect.

+25... you mean +35? +25 will poke out and he's not going to be stretching sidewalls.

Noooooo! I just bought those wheels!

I guess it's ok since I got hyperblack, which has been discontinued

anyway, I got 17x9 +35 all around. A test fit made the rears look pretty good (maybe a small spacer is needed) and the fronts look like they'll stick out a bit... I can't imagine you would want to go +25.

I get my tires tomorrow, so hopefully I'll have them mounted and the wheels installed by the weekend. I'll try get some pics so you know what +35 looks like.

17x9 +35 is going to stick out in the front, and depending on tire you may need a small roll on the rear fender lip.
17x9 +34 245/40 front 255/40 rear

if you were a baller you'd have 17x10s like me, they really stick out..lol

My pick for flush fit staggered setup, with only a minor fender roll in the rear. 17x8.5 +40 255/40 and 17x9.5 +38 275/40

Yes I know the staggered look is retarded on a FWD car, but again its just a "look", this car will go to the track every soo often, w/slicks. So for the mean time and the daily driven time.. I want something eye appealing. Again, some nice decent sized rims, with some nice complamentary width and some meaty tires. I'm not looking to do 18's or 20's and that whole huge rim thing.

What do you all mean by roll? Fender Roll?? (isnt that something you can ghettofy yourself with a baseball bat??)

The car will be lowered with springs/struts, and I will also be adding a stillen kit too.. so

yes rolling the fenders. for those that dont know: the inner fender edge has metal that protrudes inward and that in turn rubs and tears away at low sitting cars. rolling means that it would "roll" that metal up so its against the fender. yes you can use a baseball bat as it gets the job done. for a cleaner more even roll, use a fender roller from local autoshop you can rent out. make sure to use a hairdryer or heat gun to heat up the paint on the exterior so it doesnt crack when you roll.

sorry guys it was a crazy weekend....I haven't had time to snap some pics. I also got my smoked cefiro's saturday so I've spent way too much time messing with those. As soon as I get some batteries for the camera I'll get to it.

Back

Whatcha guys think?
Personally, I love them. I kinda want the back out a little bit more tho...maybe a 5-10mm spacer in the back?

and yes, my old wheels and tires have been sitting there, in my driveway, for almost a week now. I should probably put those in the garage eh?

BTW, Morpheus informed me of my n00b mistake, after which, I created a thread in the members' rides section: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....=1#post6320461

to the OP: what are your plans right now? still getting a set of these?
