Bad things about these tires
Bad things about these tires
I'm looking for experienced facts on some tires. Basically I only want to hear input if it was a 17" plus tire you experienced. I've noticed that size differences on most tires makes a huge difference. Tires I'm looking at
Avon Tech M550
BFG gForce Super Sport
ContiExtremes
GY Eagle F1
Kumho Ecsta's ASX
Sumitomo HTR+
Yoko Avid W4S
Looking for things like they are noisy, low mileage, bad handling, cupping, sidewall issues and such. These will be coming in 235/40/18. I have to buy something this week. I've read so many reviews and from what I've found is everybody loves whatever tire they bought probably because don't know any better.

Sumitomo = meh..
Kumho ASX= thumbs up for places that don't see snow. these are NOT an all-4-season tire. they're great in the dry and good in the wet while they still have a good amount of tread on them. once they get near the wear bars, watch out though.. hydroplane city on tires this wide on a car with this amount of weight on it. I could spin the tires at 60mph in 5th gear in heavy rain.
then again I've been able to do that with just about any tire once they're down to the wear bars.
noise was quite good on them. pretty quiet for a tire this wide. no cupping or feathering issues on my car. had them for about 25k miles before I wore them out (I drive REALYL hard)
fairly stiff sidewall on the ASX gives good handling and steering response, but the ride is still pretyt decent.
Yoko W4.. less grip in the dry than the Kumho, but still good overall performance. never used them in winter. good tread life. very little noise.
I don't have direct experience with any of the others, so can't/won't comment.
