winter tires in the summer?

what are the negative effects of driving a winter tire such as Bridgestone Blizzack LM 22 snow tires...on spring and summer pavement?

word. they're winter spec for a reason. get a designated a/s or summer tire for those non-winter days.

Car and Driver did a test with 3 of goodyear's tires (summer, all season, and winter) a little over a year ago. Check it out, and note the section on the second page about winter tires in hot weather...

besides, LM22's are alot more $$ than most a/s tires, why would you want to tear them up when there's no snow??

(they do have awesome dry grip from a dig though....I considered using them to autocross once they get worn down too far for winter, since they're such a soft compound.)
