Explanation of fender modifications

Just installed 15mm spacers on the rear tires, and centered the rear beam (5th gen). I still get some rubbing on the passenger side rear tire.

So what exactly constitutes "rolling" the fender versus "pulling" the fender? I'm considering just grinding a way that little lip that sticks inward toward the tire, since the rubbing is just on one side. Or maybe the lip can be folded up somehow. What's the easiest/cheapest way to fix this?

p.s. pics coming as soon as I get this figured out!

"Rolling" is bending the inner lip in/folding it in, "pulling" is actually extending the interior and exterior fender outwards.

Can you just use pliers + a towel to fold the inner lip up, or what?

Uh... I'd use a roller and a heat gun... you will most likely damage the paint if you just try and roll them up.

you'd fck up your fenders if you do that. a safer cheaper way is the baseball bat method. i tried it on the rears and was partially successful but was not able to do it cleanly. borrowed a roller from my friend and got it done properly with a slight pull. heatgun the paint as it prevents hairline cracks when rolling/pulling.

bottomline: use a roller. can be had/rented at a local auto store or bought online.

How far up should the inner lip be rolled? I bought a mini baseball bat the other day and made a little progress. I still get rubbing on big dips, but I'm sure I could get it to bend some more. When you use a roller does it point the inner lip straight up?

ideally you should roll them flat but you can get away with whatever you can get away with. be sure to heat your paint (heat gun or hair drier) or it will crack. the baseball bat is usually used for pulling rather than rolling but if it works it works. i've also done it with a hammer and dolly.

I used a bat with great results, but as you said nothing beats the fender roller, it will get the lip SUPER flat...

As far as you need to prevent rubbing...rollers fold the inner lip straight up, thats what you should shoot for...I hope you are using a heat gun BTW. It makes things easier as well...

Meh, My other philosophy outweighs that...

If you can do it, no sense it paying for anything else

I don't have that luxury

On a side note, I may rent one to pull my fenders if I get new wheels

Has anyone sold their max in a stock condition after rolling/pulling thier fenders..?.. Would you get any problems/questions....? If so what do you do just deal with it?

Obviously most people wouldnt even recognize anything but...just had to ask...bored..

er, why would it matter at all? its a cosmetic modification with very little effect on anything besides wider wheels/tires and also being lowered. on a stock car, the wheels are sunken battleships so theres nothing to worry about and the fender to tire distance is so high that its not even gonna come close. if its a very large pull, then itd probably look a bit awkward.

...you must be REALLY bored asking this type of question lol.
