Thier shipping has always been free IIRC. Thats one reason all my tires have come from them.

It's actually free if you order through their local branch (Discount Tires Center, America Tires). They will match the online price and they will install for cheap and all kinds of stuff.

Not too enthusiast friendly, but they understand business. and enthusiasts have lots of repeat business. (I own 4 cars, two of them track-worthy. I buy 4-5 sets of tires a year..) The discount Tire store by my work gives me the online price and then mount/balances for cheap because I do so much business, as well as send them a good stack of referral business.

As for discount online, their price (w or w/o "free" shipping) matches up to Tirerack's shipped price within a few $. usually about $5/tire difference. So Discount just ups their price a small amount and gives you 'free shipping'.
It all washes out in the end.

I meant the state doesn't have too many local chains that are enthusiast friendly. The nearest discount tire is in Ohio... thats 800 miles from my house.

I wanted to get some pirellis from tire rack at one time and they only had them in there TX branch ( i think) vs there MD branch which ends ups being $50 more shipping. Not bad though, but just another option for tires. They also offer price match but it is only for SHIPPED price.

Sometimes some stores don't show on their website local store locator. Have you search in YellowPages? Try "Discount Tires Co." "Discount Tires Center" "America's Tires". That really suck with no local stores.

Yeah, searched already... Ohio is nearest.

EDIT: I was def wrong. I searched on discounttiredirect.com (vs discounttire.com) and found they have an installer a couple miles away from my house. I think the mounting/balancing is like $40 a tire though ($20-$80 per). I'm gonna call and check.
