driving on cracked tires
driving on cracked tires
I have a dilemma:
I have a set of 235/40/18 Falken 512s. recently, cracking has developed on the outer edges of the tires (specifically the front 2).
I ordered a set of Falken 912s (same size). they are arriving on Tuesday.
I want to be able to do things this holiday weekend and not worry about blowing out my tires.
Should i fork over $ to get some cheapies until then?
Note: i use a work truck, so i won't drive my car Tuesday.

yes, they are small cracks, but i've never seen it before especially around the whole tire.
tires are about 3-4 years old. when i got my annual inspection done in May, they recommended i replace them. the tread life is ok.

.. So did you wind up surviving, OP?
I've had too many odd experiences with tires to trust 'em when they start doing oddball stuff. If I'd been in your shoes, I would've either found a car to borrow for a few days, or gotten rides. It's not worth the possibility of effing your suspension (amongst other things) if you have blowouts.

Yeah the tire cracking thing is supposedly dangerous, I went to Shucks to put on a set of wheels and they ended up refusing to do it because they said that the tires are crack and them putting it on my car is a clear case of neglect on their part and so.........
